Default flight training for mac

Next is also a good Mac native (Java based) sim.

Would recommend heli-x though. Next looks nicer graphically but the simulation isn't as good. It is too robotic and doesn't model tail rotor effects at all. Heli-x also has training features.

I'm using Aerofly 5 for Mac at the moment. Its a good looking sim allright but i'm not completely satisfied with it. The heli behaviour is a bit different from what i expiriance in real flying, and there arn't a lot of models that can added afterworths. So i'm not recommending it but just my two cents in case you consider it.

What I did was search ebay for Flight Simulator FMS cable JR.

yes, the FMS cable for JR/spektrum is what you want. Should $10-20 and have a mono plug on one end, and USB on the other.

One other thing. Some dx6i transmitters have a noise problem that will cause the heli to twitch sharply every now and then. It's annoying, but other than that it should work fine.

I hardly noticed my DX6i, but the port was noisy.

I have Aerofly 5.7 and really like it. Excellent graphics and physics seems more realistic than the Realflight and Pheonix simulators I've tried in local hobby shops. Performance depends somewhat on settings you choose for your controller. You can also slow down the speed of the simulator to practice more difficult moves. There are not as many models that come with the software but all sizes needed are there, plus scale models and oodles of planks in all shapes and sizes, including full scale Sopwith Camel, a P51 and a float equipped bush plane.
Heli-X is a lot cheaper and will do the job too, just not quite as well in my opinion. One kudos for Heli-X is the training modes provided. I use them to hone my inverted pirouettes and reaction skills.

I've got Next sim for my Mac and I like it a lot. It took some fiddling with the physics settings but I finally got it set up so it feels very much like my real helis.
Heli-X does have more training features but I can still do all the training routines I work on with Next. They also update pretty frequently and new tools and features are being added all the time.

I have next on my PC and its excellent. Klaus responds very fast to emails and to facebook posts. He also does a ton of updates to the sim. When I first tried it a year ago didn't care for it. But now it really flys like the real thing.

Default flight sim for mac

you can partition the HD of the mac using bootcamp. Then install a copy of windows 7 or other version, and load real flight or other windows based flight sim on that partition. Not hard to do, just a little reading. You will have to reboot the system into windows to run any windows based program. I did this on mine and have had no issues.
