Mine got sticky cuz of sitting in my garage for a while and cold/warm/cold/warm made a bit of scale build up on main and the swash ball. Maybe a bit of penetrating oil would be ok? I don't know if that would harm anything within, maybe wash grease out of bearing? But it can't hurt anything to glob some grease on there, work it around until it's nice and then wipe the excess...

BALLISTOL...!!!
Great lube & cleaner, I use it on my guns I also use it on door hinges and anything else around the house. I was amazed at how much dirt, crap and muck, comes out of door hinges when I spray them with this stuff. |

Is it new? You could have gotten a bad one. It happens.

i was told that the swash unscrews from the bottom, there are 2 holes in the metal swash bottom. i have not tried this, but I do see how it can be done. 1/4 turn max will free it up - so i'm told

+1 on the i2 swash! You will not believe how much smoother it runs. On the one you have DO NOT use WD-40 it lliterally attracts and holds dust. I used to run a pro photo lab and found that out the hard way with photo processors using plastic gears! Amsoil makes a great spray lube that penetrates, cleans and does not attract and hold dust.
