I need to edit a post I wrote on the first. I did not strip a tail servo, stripped a tail gear. I have several of them now so I should be ok for awhile. Just wish the tail would stop moving. Guess I'll order all the tail parts now, maybe they will be in by Monday.

Yes, I've flown the heli with these D922MG servos a couple of times now and had no problems so far. They seem very happy to work with the RX and don't chatter at all. Most importantly, they look and feel bulletproof. The Walkera servos are junk in comparison.

I couldn't tell you how they handle 3D flying or anything like that though as I'm no where near skilled enough yet to try that kind of flying.

Hopefully the weather will be kind to me tomorrow and I'll shoot some video of it flying. I've got Trex plastic main blades on it at the moment and they work fine as well. Didn't want to risk destroying those carbon blades whilst I was trying new servos plus learning how to fly all thrown in the mix at the same time!
Will probably put the carbons back on soon now that I've got past the fear of flying this machine. Actualy, I find it so much easier to hover than my D02S. Much more stable, smoother and handles a breeze very well.

The elev servo needs the most work, you need to cut/grind the mounting tabs to the same shape and size of the Walkera servo and shave off a bit of the edges so they're more rounded. The D922MG's are about 8mm deeper as well so it sticks out a bit more to the side of the heli. The canopy will fit over it just about. You also have to use the servo arms that come with them as the Walkera ones won't fit.

Forgot to mention that you can swop the pitch and aileron servos for the D922MG's and keep the stock Walkera servo for the elevator. Saves having to modify the elev servo which is the most work.
I've flown it like this and it works fine.

I've heard the Futaba servo is a direct fit and very good. Haven't had time to look into that but will on Sunday.

Futaba is/was all I flew with on my Nitro's but I think for Heli's of the size we are talking about, they are overkill.

But then again, it depends on what one is after.

If you do go that route though, you'll throw away the rest of the heli a dozen times over before ever having to replace a single Futaba servo.

Besides being practically bomb-proof though, some of them are wicked fast!

Actually, all of them are wicked fast compared to what comes stock on Walkera heli's.

Futaba has been making servos, and everything else for that matter, for about 70 years.

Enough said, right?

Seriously though, Futaba isn't always cutting edge but their knife is pretty darn sharp and like the edge of a Katana (Samurai Sword), can slice newer more advanced 'weapons' into tiny little pieces without a nick or scratch to itself.

I wish we had video cameras back then but there was a club fly-in I went to where someone got the crazy idea to have an 'arm wrestling' match between servos from different manufacturers. There were a lot of toasted servos that day but not a one of them a Futaba.

That said, it is possible to toast a Futaba servo but you either have to be trying really hard or, fly it into a river while still powered up.

Don't ask me how I know that last point.

I looked at the Futabas because supposedly they are a drop in replacement but I haven't seen definite proof of that. Also, they're not metal geared and are 3 times the price of the D922MGs that I choose.

Funny thing is the martial art I study, Bujinkan, has a theme every year and this year it is the sword. Hopefully the Futaba's are drop in, it would be nice to try those.

Hi Guy's, i have a Walkera V200D03 i bought second hand and replaced parts including servos and have since stripped the new ones.
After searching i found a couple of you have fitted metal servos and would like to know the outcome please.
