Question V400D02 or V450D01

Alright everyone,

Which one of these birds do you recommend? I have been flying my mini CP and want something a little bigger. What you say?

Thanks

I don't have either one. But, if I were going to buy one, I would probably go with the V450. It's a much better heli. CF frame, BL motor, DD tail...etc. It's also almost twice the price of the V400. Personally, I think the V400 is a better looking heli and I would almost consider one if weren't for the tail motor. That's what kills it for me.

V450 is a good heli even though I don't own it. I think you moved on to Mini CP more recently. Unless you have some extra ordinary learning ability then it is okay but if you are like most of us, this is what I would suggest. The V450 just because of its size, you cannot afford to crash. Even rough landing can be expensive. Bigger helis break badly when crashed.
The next step for you should be V120D02S. Amazing heli for it's size with outstanding ability. Very durable (particularly if you fly over tall grass) and less expensive to repair. Learn more maneuvers with it. I keep flight logs. I would suggest at least 150+ flights before you take the next step. I have gone as far as V200D03. Even the V200D03 does not take a crash.
The only reason you could get a V450 is that you want to hover and fly around gently setting it up on expos/dual rates and dialing up the gyro sensitivity etc. However setting up a heli for easy flying also requires a lot of skill and experience.
My only point is you probably need more stick time. I would hate to hear that your V450 crashed because of pilot error or it wasn't set up properly.
Have fun.
Aftab.

Go bigger! Bigger heli's fly better. The v450 is a great heli and is very stable. As far as setup, the v120 requires just as much as the v450. You already have the mini cp, IMO you really do not need another micro heli.

Bigger Helis are more stable and fly better indeed. I still worry about the crash damage in hands of a not so experienced pilot. Anyway whatever you decide, please keep us posted on your experience on moving from Mini CP as your first CP heli for a short time and then moving to V450.
Maybe I am moving too slowly and need to get a bigger heli soon.

I heard the bigger heli are more stable but the cost for a crash is also higher just check out how much the parts are an see if thats in your budget. If you think your ready for something alot bigger. I went from 100 or 120 size heli an moved up to a v200 size just the power & sound suprised me but I'm glad I went larger my next heli will probably be a blade 300X that's a good size for me to have some fun with. One thing about larger helis is more power & speed so check out the different forums an read up on your next heli.

In my opinion, if your want more of a real helicopter, you definitely want the V450. First and foremost reason: it has a belt-driven, feathering pitch tail rotor. This equals more control and better overall stability and/or performance. The electric tail is fine for the small MiniCP. As you go with a bigger heli, you want a non electric tail. You probably already know the reasons why.

Thanks everyone,

I am leaning towards the V400. Cheaper to repair. I also have thought about the V200D03. I have read mixed reviews on this heli. I had my first inverted hover yesterday with the mini. What a blast!!!!!

Do not get the one with a tail motor. Tail motors are bad. They work on small helis like the Blade MCPX and your Mini CP, but anything bigger they just don't work well. What ever you do, do not get the one with the tail motor.

If you want something simple and good to fly that is bigger there is the 1#A. It is a really nice 300 size that is often overlooked because it is not sexy, but it is a good little heli. I had one, and after a couple of years I have decided to get another. It is like a Eflight Blade SR with a belt driven tail and metal head and tail.

If you have a 2801 TX

If you don't have a 2801 TX

If you have a Devo TX, this will let you use it with this heli

These blades are great, they break in a crash, saving the heli.

Batteries are cheep form HK.

Or you can get a Trex Clone and slap a TX on it that works with your radio. This is a decent one.

I think you have a Devo TX, this will let you use it with a Trex:

But please, whatever you get, Don't get one with a tail motor.
