My X5 was nick named Demise today.....as in fell to its.
BEC wire broke exiting the BEC where it was soldered. With no power going in killed the blades , boom, and canopy. KDE rear tail struts have held up through numerous dirt naps, taking the boom each time. Recommended

Re-maiden my X5
Today I re-maiden my X5 with the new speed landing skids. Landing on these tiny skids was not as difficult as I thought it would be. Taking off was a little sketchy. In those first few seconds when the heli is spooling up it can want to try and tip over so you have to be on your toes. But overall I am happy with the look and function of the new skids. I have to admit I don't like the look of the new skids at all.

Got mine down for the first time in several months.
Flew it for six packs, did great until it started developing vibes on the sixth round. Looking at it, I believe its time to replace the main shaft bearings, the bottom one for sure, can see debris in it and it has play (ugh). I have a set of stock bearings for it, so that's what I'll go with for starters. I may get better ones soon when I have more cash (just bought a Traxxas X-Maxx), am tapped out for the moment. Any suggestions as to better bearings?

Stock ones work for me to be honest. I don't mind replacing them after 200 flights or so.

Did six succesfull auto's from way up yesterday...
The wind was nice and steady and the grass was just cut short, so I thought it's now or never. Man it's easy, if you flare you have tons of HS left to set it down... Stupid thing was, on the last auto, pack was empty it was the softest landing of it all only to find out it sat on a bump and started to tip over. Gave it full cyclic to keep it on the skids but as the HS faded it tiped over.... Only damage was the swash bearing, which is allready replaced, so its ready to go again...

Crashed mine.
Got it rather low, lost it, recovered but then my brain decided 'let me fix that for you' <=no Thx brain, the vinger memory has it figured out, but no..... so I overcorrected, flipped it over and drove it in head first.... Kinda dumb, the guy who saw it happening asked why I did that, because you had it. Only had the x5 with me so went home Anyway, How do you get the swash plate bearings out? I have the fes black swash. The little philips head don't wanna move. And there are some screws on the bottom too but these are em to be obstructed for now The same with the tail shaft umbrella gear |

I flew three packs through mine and put it away. I love how reliable this heli is.
Oh, and I put a new set of switch 523's on it. I was on my backup kbdd 510s for a while.

Not too much haha. Pic is courtesy of my father. The grass was cut at 2" by the way. So it wasn't the most nerve relaxing inverted flight haha.

Yeah sad part is I put my x3 in doing the same thing later that night. I was tired and trying to show off, and those two don't mix well. But good news it only $20 for that mishap.

As for bearings, check out the ION yellow seal abec-5 X5 main shaft bearings, great bearings.

Successfully maidened mine today!!!
I've been working on my X5 since about Christmas and it took far longer than it probably should have but life kept getting in the way and I wasn't able to dedicate as much time to it as I would have liked. Beautiful evening at the club field tonight and it all came together and flew wonderfully - I couldn't have asked for more. I've never flown a machine this large and my hands were shaking most of the time but its hours later and there's still a big dumb grin on my face! I wanted to offer my sincere thanks to everybody in this forum who helped me out along the way. This wasn't my first build but I still encountered a number of snags during the process and I valued so much your advice, reassurance and clarification. I'm not sure I could have done it otherwise. Thank-you!
