Well things are moving forward.

Everything is complete except the gyro and tail servo. Santa is bringing a GY520 and BLS 251.

Spun the motor up for a test. OMG! I've never been around powerful electric motors. Less than half throttle, no blades on it of course, and it was wailing.

What started out as a deal on a starter kit has turned into quite an expensive project.

Sad thing is... I already know I want to go bigger!

Scorpion 2281-8
CC ICE50 ESC
Hitec HS-65HB's
GY 520
Futaba BLS 251
DX6i

I'll post more when everything is up and running.

John

Looks great! Especially like the canopy and bag.
Is there a reason why you went with such a large tail servo? Or did you mean BLS257?
The yellow skid stoppers go further in, you just have to use a lot of force to push them over.

Uh oh. Tell me I didn't pick the wrong servo. Ordered a combo package with the GY 520 and a BLS251.

No wonder the little yellow things didn't stay put. LOL!

According to B335's thread here, the Futaba S9257 is the most popular. It will cost a fraction of your BLS251. I'd sell or return that servo if you can. Otherwise, you could keep it if you are planning to build a much larger heli some day.

BTW, where do you fly? I probably live less than 15 minutes away from you.

vigor1,

Not flying much at all. Hopefully I'll get more time after Xmas.

I'll PM you my number and perhaps we could meet for lunch and talk helis. I need all the help I can get.

I run my embroidery business out of my home, so I'm there all day.

I appreciate everybody's help and comments.

The wife bought me the GY520 combo with the BLS254 servo.

I went ahead and bought the S9257 and installed it.

I'm going to post the BLS254 for sale. Somebody will get a good deal.

A few weeks back I saw that Hatguy has a custom embroidery shop starting. Looks like some pretty good quality stuff he's producing.

Exactly!! I really liked the look of his bag (not that I'd cart my MT in anything other than a solid metal case) and started trawling my LHS site, thinking it was a TT own product and might be on a shelf here.
Then the brain cell kicked in and I realised it was HatGuy's own prod.
Duh!
