You know, I think a "Diabolo versus 7HV" comparison would be more interesting. The TDR is a low headspeed machine, so it's hard to compare. Seems like the Diabolo and 7HV are targeting the same flight style.

It's not junk, but a Logo 700 or E7 would be a bit better constructionwise.

I bet if we do a poll most TDR/Diabolo owners don't like chinese helis. In my case, even if the 7HV flew nicely I wouldn't embark in a mid quality product. Been there, done that. The comparison is pointless because no one takes these two as alternatives between each other. If you think about a 7HV you are comparing to X7, 700E, E720, E7 and maybe Goblin. If you are thinking about Diabolo your alternative is the TDR almost exclusively. Diabolo flies great at 1500, even official videos show this range. It is VERY similar to the TDR.

I belive I've read that Stolla have both TDR and 7HV, if I remember correctly. (Sorry if I'm not)
Maybe he's got some thoughts about those compared, and we can take it from there... I've only seen the 7HV airframe at my lhs, not yet at the field. It seems that it get good reviews but for me it's not a contender.

I understand they are complementary, same as he commented about the E720. I just think they are not comparable, two different approaches.
Stolla?

I have a 7HV and am thrilled with how it flies, and the construction great in some areas and substandard in others. The design is brilliant though. I'm really looking hard at the Diabolo. I was waiting for the L700, but the weight has me skittish and I really think I like the simplicity of the belt drive better than the TT. Only things keeping me from pulling trigger: the L700 shaft and bearing sizes are alluring, as is the dampened TR design. The Diabolo wins for aesthetics though! What kind of flight times are your guys seeing with the various blades? How are the 4mm blade bolts holding up? People are bending this size in the L600SE... Not sure why they are used is a machine meant for big power and 750mm blades. Seems there are some compromises in the machine.

I get around 6-7 min so far doing sport mild 3D type flying. I am using 5000mAh packs which are starting to feel a bit heavy. You can get more time with more conservative flying. Some of us get a few min doing hard high collective speed runs. The 4mm bolts are fine so far as I know with blades upto 710mm. Mercuriel recently reported the bolts bending with 750mm blades. He has not noticed much difference in performance with the 750mm blades other than the noise, as far as I can remember.

So from the little there is to read in here it seems Gerd is responsive to feedback. Think he'd entertain some grips with 5mm bolts?

Not hard to drill/ream out the grips as long as you have access to a pillar drill or vertical mill. The stock blade bolts are 10.9 or 8.8 grade of steel so they will deform rather than break under excess load. Mine bent out running HS up to 2100 on 753s so subjecting them to over design spec forces.
