Just curious what other guys have for large helis and your thoughts on them. To me the 550 is the perfect size since lipos are still cheap and it still has a big presence in the air. I would be lying if I haven't thought about going bigger though

Trex600n. Not as quick as my trex550, but a bigger presence and more like a cadillac. Plus it makes smoke and noise

TDR is my choice. It is very well engineered. Surprisingly it is much quieter than my T550.

When you guys are looking for larger helis do you buy them based on what lipos you already own? Or how expensive the lipos are?

For me it would be nice to be able to share the 6s 5000mah 30c lipos I already have.

Sharing is important. I changed my battery connectors on my 550 from Deans to EC5 in preparation for flying my soon to be finished Whiplash.

Thats what most 700 class helis run, just 2 of them for 12s...7hv,700e, goblin etc

Gone for the TDR which I have 2 x 6s 4.5A Lipos, my 550 are obviously 6s too but a mixture of 5A and 5.2A. Quite fancied the Logo 500SE, a few fly it at our club and its nice so ordered one. Actually 600 size but crucially uses 6S 5A Lipos which steered me away from the 600 as that uses 10S, so battery sharing can save a lot of money. Building up my field charging kit so intend to cycle the hell out of fewer lipos anyway.

Get a 600 efl and convert it to fbl.

My bigger bird is a 700E.....Can share batts with the 550E so it makes battery cost a bit easier to deal with...

The biggest i have at the moment is a 550. But i really like the logo 600.
I would like to share my lipo's though... Can the logo really not be flown with 2 x 6s 5000mah?

I think it's possible but then you have to cut the sides of the frame-inside a little. And the CG will most probably be off but it doesn't matter so much if you have FBL

(I know one guy flying 600SE with 2x5000 and VBar and he flies 3D without problem)

I'm really debating between the Compass 7HV and the Trex 700 both FBL. Reason is because of parts availability in Canada. It would be nice to have the Compass just because it's different then the 550 I already have...

Most of the other 700 class helis are kind of out of my price range anyways as crash costs are also important to me.
