5000 6s 30C turnigy initial review

right off the bat! this is my first cheap pac since ive been in the hobby beside a cheapy that came in a RTF package. All I can say is im very pleased

cells were all very close from one to another

shipping was pretty fast at 7 days with a little extra $.

3 hovers today for 3.5 min to break it in and the power is leaps and bounds over my old pac. Feels like i have a new motor. A new heli for that matter

at 3.5 min the pac is not really even warm, this lipo had almost no temp increase by feel. the 2650 was only slightly warm at best after the same treatment

I bought the 2650 30c and quality is the same

one note the wires are really huge coming of the lipo almost double my flightpower 20c with a little presoldering the deans went on easy

This is smaller and lighter than their 25c 5000mah pack

Can you confirm these numbers

yep its close i have 143/49/46

like i said its allot longer then my evo20 but it performs better cooler and doesnt get swelled a hair like the evo did.

like i said its already more powerfull and cooler then my evo ever was. then again comparing a 30C to a 20C isnt fair.

But at the price difference its a no brainer. ill go out here in a bit and let it rip for the first time its had its 4 hovering flights at 3 min to break in.

I bought the one that was mislabeled (15C) to test on my FBL T600. The pack so far has about 25 charges on it. I fly for 5 min and put back between 3300 - 4100 mA. Its performance is just as good as the Zippy H battery ( I have worn out 3 of Zippy packs so far, each has around 85 charges on it. The packs were still strong, but they puffed to the point that I decided to retire them) and is much cooler than the TP EX V2 packs after 5 min flight.

I did a 5 minute continuous flips on the Turnigy pack the other day for a stress test. It came down pretty warm. The charger put back 4200 mA to the pack when recharge.

I am pretty impressed with these Turnigy packs. At $60/ea, it is a steal.

I hope I could get 60 flights out of my Turnigy pack ( I bought 3 )

my 30c is holding up fine. i only have 15 flights on it though but no puffing and lipo is always warm at best.

I was completley skeptical on these. My buddies kept telling me "Try the Turnigy's" "Save your money" I was like yea right, like these packs are any good.

WELL, THEY ROCK!!!!!

I bought 2 and have ran 6 flights on each so far on My 600ESP w/Neu 1907 and ccHV110. They perform awesome and better then I expected, come down barely warm and they balance perfectly. I couldnt be happier. And I'm ready to replace all my aging packs with Turnigy's! Hobby King shipping was pretty quick too. I had them in less than a week!!

My Turnigy 6S-5000 mA test pack now has 45 charges on it. It is slightly puffed now but does not appear to lose any power yet.

I've been flying the 20C 5000mah Turnigy's, and have medium puffing after about 30 flights on it. This was with a 14T 650L, gov'd at 1900RPM and some moderate stick banging.

I just dropped in a 15T and set the head speed to 2000. SUPER PUFF! My batteries are not happy with this setup. My 30 cycle battery puffed significantly on the first flight. The 600E flew great though, and it's a pitty. KE6D has informed me I need to go to more cells for my flying style. So I guess I'll go 12s using 2650 20C packs.

thats why i bypassed those 20C's and went straight for 30c

im lucky to have 20 flights on mine and its still like new. i have been flying very tame though. i had a few flights with tic tocs but mostly flips and rolls

Just wondering, are you guys checking your amps and watts with a watt meter?

Curious as to what amps you are pulling to get these packs to puff.

If you are pulling well under the rated amps, I would probably stay away from the packs.

I've been flying electric planes for some time and I always check my amps - just to make sure I've propped my plane correctly and that I don't ruin a pack.

I'm about to get into the heli side of rc and have been researching packs for the trex 600.

not checking with any meter. dont need to, there is a long track record of what works and what does not. there are a few that are logging. but it changes nothing.


what you need to account for is that the trex 600 on 6s is hard on lipo's. you need a little extra C rating to help keep the lipo as cool as possible.

20C's on a 600 are puffing much easier then a 30C so what are you trying to say? i should fly something that will get trashed easier?

today im flying my turnigy 30C 6s 5000 and i was doing tic tocs, when i landed i spent a minute hovering and today my lipos were getting a little hot. no puffing or swelling but today was the hottest ive seen this lipo. 30 flights and holding up like new

I have to agree with Outhouse on this, data logging is pretty pointless unless you are playing outside of the normal ballpark. I've been flying electric for awhile and i've done the data logging thing in the past but the numbers are a curiosity and nothing more. If the packs.esc , and motor come down cool then you are good to go. Outhouse what i have found is that the last 10% of the pack is where the pack generates most of its own heat. I fly my machines pretty hard and since sticking to the 70% discharge rule my packs come down cool. Just cut the last 20-30sec of the flight off.

I have to completely disagree with data logging being pretty pointless statement.

I data log every flight on my Outrage 550. If something should fail on the heli electronic wise it gives me a good indicator of where to start looking. Also you can adjust your flight style and the way you use collective in certain maneuvers to gain the most efficiency. I've found my Eagletree to be an excellent tool and a must have for the money.
