Will an Ice 50 Fit?
I spent the morning setting up the head on my 450 Pro for proper pitch. So I did a lot of plug in, unplug, plug in, etc. Now my Align 35 won't arm. Servos move but the motor won't arm. I'm thinking of replacing it with an Phoenix Ice 50.
Will a Phoenix Ice 50 fit in the space under the batt tray on the 450 Pro? Any recommendations? Ice or Ice Lite? Thanks |

Running ICE 50 Lite under the tray. Fits tight but fine. Been running 100% throttle all summer in 90F+ heat, no problems with hard flight.

I am not sure that the CC Ice 50 will fit under the battery tray, but the CC Ice 50 Lite will!

I have an ICE 50 ESC, and yes, its a royal pain to try to put under the tray. I had mine mounted on the side but moved it to the bottom centered under the main shaft and strapped to the main frame (not going ANYWHERE). I like it there, better center weight and PLENTY of airflow to keep it cool.

Hi, Yes the standard ICE50 will fit under the tray but I ended up cutting the tray a bit just above the canopy clip to give the wires some room. I also had to put the ESC on its side as it is too wide for the frames. I'll probably invest in a KDE battery tray to make things a little easier and less of a cram. If anybody has any pics to share of how they did theirs I would love to see them. I'll see if I can upload some of mine. Good luck, you wont be disappointed with the ICE though!

it can be done but it's a PITA.............but well worth the effort IMO. logs show no evidence of overheating flying light 3D in moderate ambient temps

As promised, here are pics of my underside mounting. Not even that noticable with the canopy on.

yes it is, and I highly recommend it.
I have had two hard crashes which slightly bent the battery mount that would have otherwise taco'd packs. in both cases I've bent it back in shape, not perfect but good enough. pricey but worthwhile investment IMO, given I use Hyperion packs I think it's paid for itself.
