Default rebuild

After almost of a year of not being in the air, I have torn down the Pantera 50 to rebuild it after a mechanical failure in flight last year. I think I have discovered the cause of the tail problems that I was having last year. The tail belt pinion pulley installed upside down (not by me as I got the heli used years ago. This cause the screw and washer to push down into the pinion, loosen up, and wobble around.

Just thought I would share this information as I was chasing tail problems last year.

Also, anyone use zip ties on the landing skids? I broke both frames in the crash and just thought that if zip ties were use, they may break before the frames do. If you do, how well do they hold up and what size are you using? If JB checks this thread, is this a good idea or a bad one? Right now I will just set it up stock set up.

The build is on the way and hope to complete it soon. Will have a new power plant though. I will see if I like the YS 60SR over the old OS 50sx hyper.

zip ties works great, just use some that fits in the holes, I used 2 in each hole myself (one each way)

Yeah, the reason I included that Pro Tip in the manual (about using zip-ties to secure the landing gear struts) is precisely because it helps avoid damage during a hard arrival. Remember, our frames may only cost half what competing brand frame sets cost, but R&R on frames regardless of brand is still a pain in the rear (to replace frame sets) and I'm all about low-maintenance, both as a modeler, and as the guy dispensing advice to my customers about my product. Finally, I'm glad you found the problem with the orientation of the bearing blocks and am only sorry it caused you so much trouble.
