Default PREDATOR CARBON GASSER 26cc HEAD SPEED ??

Hello,
I just purchased a Predator Carbon Gasser with a 26cc Hanson modified Zenoah.
I installed a governor Gv-1 on it.
I wonder wich is the best gear ratio and the best head speed to set my gov for 3D flying ??
Many thanks.

Not sure on the 26 but with 231 I run 6.92 and a head speed of 1850. The 26 has to run a little less rpm than the 231 to be smooth.

I thought the Hanson engines were suppose to be super smooth. Are you saying a stock 231 is smoother than a 26 Hanson engine

I cant say that as I have never had or worked on a Hanson motor. What I can say is that when I mentioned about getting into gas it was suggested to me since I want to fly 3D. Go with the 231 and 6.92 gear ratio. And as it has been seen in a few vids it works very well, as far as a 3D gasser can be. But you have to stay on top of the machine as the gas tends to vibrate more and things need looked at more, at least thats my thought on it.

I have both the stock231 and modified26 motors and run 13/88 gearing. Both 26 motors are Hansons. The one 26 I have had rebalanced and a new lighter piston add by all al at Hansons in Pa, it is possible smoother than the 231. I run 1825 on governor in idle up and 1750 in normal mode in all three gassers I own. V-blades seem to smooth out some of the vibes too. Really like these 720 V-blades. Rodney is avery good source. Did you get the metal A-arm part installed Rodney?

I was told to upgrade the A-Arm so I did. I am running larger blades so I went with a metal headblock but not the grips. The tail has held together fine.

the a-arm is a must do and most have done so. I have the complete metal head and it works great. Overkill but looks good. I have two gassers with the metal tail box. Again overkill but looks real cool. There is a need to upgrade the boom the heavy duty (thicker wall and small I.D.) for installation of the metal tail box.

There is ways around the HD boom for metal tail box as well. I have made and tested some shims to fit it to the standard boom and working great. I will continue to use shims until hd boom comes in crash kits.

Hello all

I'm new to the forum and to the world of gas heli's. I recently finished building my first gasser - Predator SE w/231. I decided to add the metal tail upgrade during the build. I see by reading your posts that some mod's are required before adding the metal tail. Everything seems fine with mine(although I haven't flown quite yet) and I have the stock boom - is there something I'm missing?

Check the fit of the tail box when installed in the boom. See if it moves in the boom? Not sure what boom you have? But in the standard boom that comes with the kits I have built, maybe they have changed them not sure. When mounted in the standard boom it is a loose fit and moves around. If you have a Heavy Duty boom the inside diameter is smaller making it a very nice tight fit. The thing I found is that when you buy a crash kit it coems with standard wall boom and tail box is loose, so I made a shim that fits on the tail box. I loctite it on the box and cut the 2 holes the screws go thru and it works just like it was on the HD boom. when ever you install crash kit there are no further issues. Pm for more info on shim package.
