Link lengths from the developer

Some have had the same question as I did about the lengths of the links on the B450.

Well got this today and thought I'd share:

Hello Palmer,
Below is the response from Mikel Graham, the developer for the 450 3D.
Here are approximate values, but the videos should be explanation
enough.
Subtrim the control arms first until they are level, then adjust the
linkages.

Left swash link: 55.73 mm
Front swash link: 49.74 mm
Right swash link: 43.95 mm
Swash to main blades: 61.38 mm

Viewed from the tail looking toward the nose since the left servo is underneath the right.

I've seen this discussed but don't remember a definitive answer. How is one to measure these lengths? Total length end to end? Just the metal part showing? Middle of the link "hole"? Some other point?

I've been going from over all length, outside to outside of the links....gets you pretty close.

is this:
a. end to end?
b. center ring to center ring?

I measured mine as overall length with my calipers, and it worked out very well - within a few thousandths either way - and my swash ended up right around 15mm.

I'm new too, but I believe the idea is to get your servo arms properly centered first, as you don't want to compensate for off center by changing link lengths. Making sure your transmitter is set correctly, you first physically remove the arm and put it on as close to center or level as the teeth will allow. Then you adjust your subtrim in the menus of your controller to fine tune it.

Subtrim is a menu in your tx for getting your servo arms at 90. Trim is the switches around your left and right sticks to dial your bird in, assuming its a FB setup.

1. Adjust the servos arm close to 90 deg as possible in relation to the main shaft. If a bit off, adjust using subtrim.
2. Set all 3 cyclic servos so that all move in the right direction...AIL/ELE/PITCH/TT
2. Swash levelling: use a levelling tool
Mid : adjust the linkages until the swash is level (flat horizontally). If just a bit off, use
subtrim.
Hi & Low : use Adv Travel

I just measured mine:

Left swash link: 2.16" overall/outside
Front swash link: 1.96" overall/outside
Right swash link: 1.72 in overall/outside
Swash to main blades: 2.47" overall/outside
2 parallel links connected to front servo: 2.56" center to center

Before you do any of that, disconnect your motor, hook up your battery, and set your collective to midstick. You need to level your swash at midstick, so you can set 0* pitch.

You also want to have a linear pitch curve for levelling your high and low travels. If your Throttle Hold pitch curve is not linear, either reprogram it for swash setup, or turn TH off (which is why you need to disconnect your motor!)

I was adjusting my mechanical and got all messed up. I needed to get linkage rod lengths to get back to normal. Helifreak is the bomb!!! Thank you to 72mhz and dchance for there great info.
