Yeah you run your antenna through that. Old FM style had like a 2 foot antenna, I used to just coil it around the boom support, I never liked the straw. Plus it was a pain to try and push the antenna through that thing whew.

Ya'll are making me feel old. I remember learning to fly planes with an AM radio and it was huge to upgrade to FM and PCM.

Things have changed...what is funny...I remember when my mom went to class 30 some odd years ago to learn how to cook with a microwave.

the 450 looks good with the 500 gear on

does anyone run the 500 tail fins to keep the blades off the ground even more?

I did at one time, however I noticed that the extra vertical stab sometimes tagged the ground and caused gyro headaches. So I pulled it off and just run the 500 skids now and it works perfectly.
I even loaded up my trainer heli with T600 skids instead of those stupid gangly training gear sets and it worked just stellar. The reason I did that is that I was using a flymentor with a bubble level and I could create a flat spot anywhere to initialize the FM with, and the extra long skid tubes kept the tail off the ground no matter what.
I do run Cf 500 tail blades on mine though.
