Default Blade 400 in the air shaking tail left and right

Hello guys,

Blade 4003d with DX8. Settings according to the manual.

I have a question about the 400. I think there is something wrong with the gyro, I'm not sure. I have two questions.

When I spool up, the blade will turn the tail to the left. I stopped, did a subtrim on the rudder and then it got better, however I have to pull the rudder to the other direction in order to take off smoothly. Is this normal? I put the servo speed to 0.1sec because it was very slowly correcting.

Also when I look at the tail when the blade is on the ground and standby , the servo will move the tail blade slowly to one side and it stops there. Is this normal behavior?

The real problem-> When in the air, the tail is shaking left to right fast. Sometimes it is over in few seconds, other time it lasts longer.
It does that always when in the air, only I can't see exactly when.

What could be the problem here?

The blade has all stock servo's and gyro.
I noticed the gyro is mounted not perfectly straight. One side is leaning more towards the blades, sort of speak.

First, your Blade 400 is shaking the tail because the tail gain is too high. Try turning it down 5 units and see how it does. You want the gain as high as you can get it without it shaking.

Yes. Perfectly normal.

I would suggest that you check your tail in Rate mode on the transmitter. It should hold steady in Rate mode. If it doesn't, read some of the setup info that is "stickied" at the beginning of this forum. The "Blade 400 Bible" is very useful.

Have fun.
