This evening, I finally got the my CAM software working properly at home so I rewrote the g-code to cut the grip arms. I'm thinking that since the weather is probably going to be lousy, I might go and cut a few of them myself for those interested.

I would be interested in getting at least 2 sets of the grip arms. I'm using an rjx head now, but I would like to get the stock setup on there as much as possible. Using a g5 block and align follower, what control rods do I need? And do I need anything else?
Thanks.

I used a pair of Trex 500 swash to servo links I had laying around for my swash to grip linkages. This was with my custom frames. The geometry is a bit different on the stock frames. I think you would need longer linkages.

I went looking to see if I could get some aluminum stock locally to make some of the grip arms but I've been unsuccessful so far. I might just order some from McMaster.

I decided to go ahead and get a batch of the arms made. It just takes too much time and tooling to do it myself. I'll post when I receive them...

I was out flying yesterday and had my second crash on the new frames. This was another mechanical failure. The first crash on the new frames was a result of the swash driver I made out of Furion head parts failing. This second crash was a result of one of the tail grip screws failing. Surprisingly, there was very little damage to the heli. The tail rotor is pretty messed up and may require a full replacement. Otherwise, the only other damage I've found is a broken skid.

I can't say I'm surprised that the tail rotor exploded since my Furion has only had 3 crashes since I've owned it and I've had it since early 2007. Five years of more or less trouble free service from any assembly on a heli is pretty good in my book.

In other news, I finally got a video of me flying it from my buddy and I'm not sure if I will post it. It was shot with a GoPro and because of the wide angle lens, the little 450 is little more than a dot for most of the video.

Weather forecast for no flying? Made some more grip arms. I think this batch came out nicer than the first.
