Default Flaps question

I have an 80" electric glider, has all controls except for flaps, the provisions are there for installing a pair. My question is, are they a big plus on a glider and if so, why? Thanks

Just depends how much performance you want to go after. With the right setup you can program "crow" to help slow you down and "reflex" and "camber" to help with lift management. You'll need at least 7 channels to do all that. It's fun to play around with. I'm no expert sail plane flyer, so others might have some different thoughts. They're not absolutely necessary to go out and fly and have some fun. If you like more stuff to try and play around with, then they don't hurt.

Good luck,

On a real glider, and i have hundreds of hours, spoilers are way more useful. Flaps are only used if spoilers are not installed.

is you don't have spoilers, 90deg of flaps are the only safe way down thru a good thermal !

Yes. The difference is that you add and remove spoilers at will without issue. Doing so with 90 degree flaps can easily cause a stall.
