Can you still actually find a GF kit? These are basically ancient technology. Get the 500 efl at least. A dfc or simply 500L is your best bet.

You are still going to spend $200 to get it in the air... So now you're up to at least half the price of a new one and parts may be tough to find. Many are compatible, some are not.

So can someone clarify what parts the 500EFL Pro shares?

I'm interested in getting one but don't want to have parts availability issues.

Not really interested in the 500L due to the cost and reviews.

Or I should ask what it doesn't share?

L vs EFL: head frames frame plates, head are all different. If not more.

Its very popular to change out the dfc head for the newer 'L' one.
- it lessens the harshness and crash damage....

But that would for me necessitate going back to the faster esp tt gear ratio....
And a taller main shaft....

-

Why so many previous - do you have something against helis?

Yep. The tail booms are the same on all of the 500 variants.

I also just picked up a 500E on a deal. I also got a 3G head with it and built it with that head. I really like the way it fly's. I flew it with the stock blades first and then picked up some Edge 423 and it is more solid now. I put on PRO tail pitch slider and bell crank as there was a lot of slop in the tail blades. It is a fun size and EZ fit in a Jeep.
I just need to find a new canopy as this blue and white doesn't work with old eyes.

Deciphering this 500 I have from the variant guide.
GF frame and belt tail tells me its the Q4 2007 version. But it has metal bearing blocks, aluminum anti rotation bracket, FBL all metal head, 70 amp Align ESC, Scorpion HK-3026 1600KV motor, metal tail housing and grips, and screw in canopy mounts.

I changed out the DS510 servos with S9257MG for cyclic and the Spektrum 5020 tail servo for an E-max ES9257 (cheap and only one on hand) servo. I also changed out the BX+/ 6200 for an Ikon and 2 satellites.

So I would say it is a highly upgraded Q4 2007 version. Would you agree?

Thanks for making this list.
Pete

Just bought the 500 in the pictures. Got a good deal with a lot of spare parts. Can someone help me identify which model this is. I am new to Align. My previous heli's were all Blade. Thought this would be a good start to building/rebuilding and bigger heli's

Just a quick bump I just picked up a kit to build my first bigger heli it's a KX017014T but I can't seem to find any difference between the KX017014 and KX017014T part number I have found them listed interchangeably as a 500E?

Yes. Same as the old 500GF & CF. Parts of ESP will fit the older 500 too.
