Thank you all for the replies. Do you guys have any links for your recommended LiFe batteries and can they use the same chargers as lipos or are they different as well?

"MOST" lipo chargers will charge LiFe packs. But it is a different setting, due to the different pack/charge voltage. If you look at the charger spec it will say if it does LiFi packs.

Battery's

http://www.buddyrc.com/a123a-2s1p.html $35.00

http://www.hobbypartz.com/98p-life-20c-2100-2s1p.html $19.00

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...arehouse_.html $11.00

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXDVCC&P=ML $40.00

Just a couple of options. And no I don't think the $30-40 ones are any better then the $10-20 ones. I have a Gen's ace in one helicopter and a Hobbico in another both work fine.

Note I do use a JR JRP04507 switch. This switch has a dean input plug and two normal servo leads out. This way you have one lead to power the RX and another lead to power the FBL unit.

Thank you! How manny flights do you get out of each pack?

That really depends on how what radio gear you have and how you fly.

Everyone claims that Savox servos really suck the power but I have ran Savox and Futaba BL451's and they both use the same amount of power.

On my gassers, I use about 250-300 mAh per 10 minute flight.

I'm sorry I'm new to all of this LiFe stuff. You measure how much battery you have left to use by how manny mAh there are? So if you use 300 mAh per 10 minute flight and its a 2100mAh battery, you tecnically have 70 minutes flying time even though you would obvously never fly the battery until its dead. If this is correct how do you measure these numbers?

All the newer changers show you how many mAh you put back in a battery when you change the pack.

So you start off with a fully charged 2100mAh pack. You do your normal flight say for 10 minutes. You charge the pack and see that it took 320mAh to change. So you can say you used 320mAh per flight. Do this a few times to make sure the numbers stay the same and increase the number of flights between changes. I tend to only use about 50% of the pack before I recharge. So with a 2100 pack I would fly 3 or 4 flying between charges. If it was the end of the day I might go 5 flights but probably not 6. That said I have used 95% unknowingly.

Most folks I know are going LiFe or LiPO these days. My Vibe has run a JR 4500 PowerSafe with an AR7100R the past 4-5 years. I get a full day's use, which is generally 2 flights. It's never let me down. Mind that it's a BIG pack at 11 oz. Heavy sucker. Never tracked voltage, but notice of late it is starting to loose a little "oomph" by it's back on the bench.
I want to swap out the NiMH for a LiFe and a different receiver. Plan to go FBL and have other plans for the AR7100R. Less weight and better performance is always ... better.

Thank you guys for all of this info. Definitely eye opening. So a 6.6 volt pack will basically remain 6.6 volts until let say all of the 2100 mAh runs out?

Yes. There are many more recent posts on this topic. Try searching "A123 receiver pack"

This has been in most of my Helicopters and works perfectly.
It's 7.2V fully charged but goes down to 6.6V almost immediately once you start moving the servos. It should not be a problem for your 6V servos - which ones are you running ?

I'm running Align DS610s for the swash and a DS650 for the tail with the Microbeast Plus. Futaba 7C 2.4 FAAST tx/rx system. .46 Nitro engine.

I've been running the same servos in my 600EFLpro with that exact battery unregulated.
I also have it on my 600N fitted with 8717s. The 600EFLpro usually takes only 150 to 200mAh per flight while the Nitro usually draws about 350mAh per flight. It's heavier and has one more servo plus the 8717s have more power.
I just make sure that I don't run them down to less than ~40%. As people have already said, the LiFe batts keep their Voltage pretty constant right to that drop off point where they go down fast.

Which one or would both of these work for the batteries you guys have shown me? These are the ones that show how manny mAh's go back in? http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item...446791&alt=web

+1 I use the 3000mah version and if your tail servo is low voltage use a step down

Ie my futaba 251 runs on 4.8v old skool technology ... so I plug in a voltage regulator into servo then into the rx or fbl unit ....

Yess I know u can run 6v to the 251 .... but I wont risk it .

Neither of them would work from the start for the battery I've shown you because they are not compatible to the Hyperion balance connector (Both seem to be JST-XH). I'm sure though there is a balance board for the Turnigy to fix that problem ?!
It sucks but there are several different standards in balance connectors...

Would these work well together for the rx packs for my TSA 700N

battery
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...arehouse_.html

charger
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...y_Charger.html

and would this charger tell me how many mAh's are placed into the battery for flight time estimation.
