Default DX-8 and unwanted pirouetting

I got a DX-8 programmed one of my regular beaters, a Trex-550, into this radio. The 550 has an older BeastX that was updated to the first software update several years ago. With my old radio, a JR 90303, this heli flew without any issues. Now with the DX-8 I have a weird slow yaw (pirouette) that I cannot seem to get rid of. The tail seems to hold through many maneuvers that I've had the courage to try but I have a constant very slow yaw either one way of the other. I am not sure why this yaw changes direction but sometimes it goes right and sometimes left (maybe the gyro gain setting changes are the cause). Of course all trims are zeroed out and I've had my experienced buddies at the field help me with settings. And when I hit the throttle hold switch while hovering a few feet above the ground the heli piros more quickly. Yes, the gain in hold is programmed the same as other modes. Does this problem sound familiar to anyone? Thank You.

Is it a new DX8 with current firmware? If you check the monitor screen is everything zeroed properly?

My DX8 was not centering properly after awhile and needed the firmware update that adds stick calibration and then calibrated. Been fine since.

Does definitely sound like a possible channel centering problem. Its not completely uncommon but many times loosening the stick tension too much can kind of contribute to it.
If this is occurrring you will definitely be ale to confirm by using Monitor.
Theres definitely no reason not to have it updated to v3.xx Airware.
Do a stick calibration and see if Rudder output is wandering away from zero.Maybe try tightening stick tension for Rud a bit if it does.

If your heli flew good with the JR radio, I would suspect that the DX8 probably has some sort of problem.

A friend of mine experienced this with a very early DX-8.

It was a potentiometer issue which, as I recall, Horizon will repair under warrantee (I would call them if this is the case-their service department is excellent!).

In the short term, he increased the dead-band in the BeastX, and was able to fly with no problem.

If the machine only does this in idle up, it could be an issue where there is trim present in either normal mode (when the model initializes), then it sees no trim when in idle up and interprets this as a command, or trim present in idle up which is not present in normal mode (same result).

In some cases you can see this on the monitor screen.
