Kinda harsh going only TREX. But I guess small helis for small minded people. LOL
We have events and gatherings all over florida all the time.

Where at in Florida?

My open events in Jacksonville the last two years have gotten 37 and 58 pilots respectively, there were plenty of trex's but most people bring one of those along with 1 or 2 big helis.

Another heli event would be great here in Florida but would hate to see it limited to just the smaller micro helis.

Your turnout would be much, much better if you were to make it an open event for all types of helis big and small!

Happy,

How about making it an electric heli event instead of just limiting to trex.

Now that is an interesting Idea Charles , that is why I wanted a discussion
before posting this event .
Good positive comment thanks

If you have folks that are willing to come why limit them unless thats club rules, due to feild restrictions. If you only open your eyes to electric heli's you are missing a really big part of the picture.

If its going to be your event do it however makes you happy.

But if you end up standing there with yourself and one or two other people you will know why.

The more I think about it , Yes I think it is time for a Trex 450 event .
I have been to several heli events and the larger heli's pretty much
dominate and the smaller ones get pushed to the side .

I wouldn't limit it just to Trex. I have one but I fly my Mini Titans, same size but I like it better. There are a bunch of us that have several different machines. If you check the flyers they might like a few hours of " just 450s" but to travel for such a specialized event might be something else. Keep us posted. TimT

All helis, all the time!

If you want to fly your 450's then do so, nobody is going to push you off to the side and no event I have ever been to has ever restricted the micro helis to any areas.

Hi Mike
Going to stick with a small heli event . I don't think there has been
an event like this and I want to see what happens . I have posted in
different forums and have a pretty good turnout so far . You know
I always say to each his own and I just want to try this and see
what happens . The turn out so far has been a Trex 450 following
but a 450 all included event has not been ruled out .
I think also by some of the comments I have read that maybe
there is not enough heli events , many want me to have a fly anything
heli event . But this is something I really want to do .

You know, if you manage to get anywhere from 5 to 20 pilots and luck out with the wind (iow, get it going early in the morning), it would be a fun event imho. The pilots would have a lot more in common than at a typical fun fly and the helis wouldn't use up much sky. It would also be an event that would naturally chase away most of the competing reps and the annoying sounds of the big machines. What a refreshing idea.

If it was 450's only and held on a Sunday, I would do my best to attend. I'd bring along my gram scale and everyone could weigh their 450's and individual parts. Keep us posted.

Thank you Mr-C
Why Sunday , would Saturday be OK ?
Usually Saturday is the biggest day , People go to church on Sunday and
also want to get home early and get things ready for work Monday .

Sunday, because lots of people work on Saturdays (me) and get Sunday-Monday off (i.e. people in small businesses like the hobby business, etc.). In the past, this day has worked out pretty good for the Florida Turkey Gatherings, with people attending from all over the state without any protest that I've heard. The recent funfly in Tampa was also on a Sunday and they had a decent turnout. But yes, do try to be careful of all the church-goers on the road that day of the week.

Mr-C
Will keep that in mind . Still just in the discussion stage but the interest is good.
I am optimistic and have started thinking of the best ways to advertise .

I am in Illinois but sure seems like you would include any 450 size electric heli.........I fly only a trex 450 but would enjoy seeing the other 450 type machines...........I do like your idea of a 450m size electric event ! ....but allowing the other small helis just makes the event more interesting for everyone.........sounds like you will have a great fun fly!!!
