Default The best Ball link pliers for the 450SE

I know there have been a lot of posts about this, and I think I may have read them all by now, however I would like to get your latest views. Apologies if this seesm like old hat.

What are the best ball link pliers for the Trex-450SE bearing in mind the following advice given by Finless (PM):

Quote:
The bottom line is you want a curve in the forks and the thinnest forks you can get.
Having checked with Finless, it would appear that MTA no longer carry the pair he was refering to in his thread: https://www.helifreak.com/showpost.p...76&postcount=8

I basically want something that can access all the balls and doesn't damage them.

Cheers Geoff.

I wish I heard that before I got the ones I have. They are the straight kind and scratch my swash plate every time! (... that rhymes)... (.... AND THAT RHYMES!)

Actually, they are still listed. Their webpage has some difficulties, lol. It jumps from page two, IIRC, to page 11 if you use next button. Back up to page 10, at the top of the page, you'll see them.

OOPS! Maybe those aren't the ones! I don't see HELINUT on the handles.

I prefer the Helimax tweezer style for the Trex. The curved tip pliers type for larger helis.

Pinecone,

I think I will get a pair of those as well as they are only like $5 or so.

There must be a pair of pliers somewhere that doesn't scuff up the balls.

Can anyone reccommend something from Readyheli.com?

You would think, would you not, that the Align curved tip BL pliers would be perfect and fit the Trex like a glove, I mean its the same company right!

Wrong!

Well about the fit bit anyway. The Align BL pliers do not fit well behind the swash balls, the pliers foul the swashplate putting nasty scratches in your blue bling. Next try them on the old style (V1) tail grip balls - you can just pop them on, but then the edge of the plier clicks into the groove around the grip and it just won't come out without much force and partial disassembly.

Way to go Align - make a heli tool that can't be used on your own heli's --- Doh!

FWIW the Align ball link pliers are for the 600, so it's understandable that they don't fit a 450 well.

Anyone tried shrink wrapping their pliers?

I tried it and found that it avoided the scratches, but I guess the wrap isn't likely to stay put for long. In the meantime I have the tweezer style and a curved pair on order, so I will see how they turn out.

Sure about that are we??????

The T450 has been out a lot longer than the T600 and so have their curve tip ball link pliers.
When I bought mine, there wasn't a T600..............

450 or 600, they sure bend easily. My straight tip's are now curved. Anyone make one out of actual tool steel?
