I use the feathermerchants 24v47A.. probably the same server supplies... and they all seem really good... so many use them and I don't think I've ever seen a post where one died.

Yeah, I've had mine for about 3 months now. Worth every penny and would be worth it a higher price.

The quality and the workmanship are top rate and the fans are quieter that than the fan on my PL8.

I wouldn't hesitate one.

I've heard good things about the actual Solid Hobby product.

And the supplies being used are the very-popular DPS-600PB, which are used by tons of people, with success.

I wouldn't have any concerns about buying this.

The only question might be if you wanted to go with the 12V/24V version, if you ever needed to run a charger that cannot handle 24V. It also has 2 sets of output plugs, so you could more easily plug in 2 chargers at once, either for 12V or 24V. Same price, but it does not include an EC5-output cable (adds $6 if you want that).

Nice, that should be a good combination.

Default Solid hobby power supply

Got mine a week or so ago and so far it's great. Running it to a 4010Duo.

I have to admit this solid hobby power supply is super quiet and well built! I would recommend this to anyone looking to take the jump into the bigger chargers. Great job Jeremy and excellent customer service too!

Why do people keep buying power supplies like this when you can get two server power supplies and wire them for under $50? Take the wrap off and it is the same thing.

Because I don't feel like screwing with it. And the bucks are worth it to me.

FYI, The manufacture's rep for iCharger is recommending against the use of serial supplies for use with the 4010 unless the input limit is lowered to 30 to 40 amps.

To be totally clear, Junsi is recommending not using *any* kind of series connected power supplies because in the event one or the series supplies faults and shuts off during a charge the sudden drop in voltage supplied to the charger and corresponding increase in amperage demand will likely kill the charger.

Their suggestion in that post is that if you are using series connected power supplies to set the input amperage limit of the charger well below the power supply maximum amperage to hopefully avoid tripping one of the power supplies into protection mode from overcurrent which would cause the charger to fail. While that is a good safety suggestion (run the power supplies at much less than their rated maximum to hopefully avoid a shutdown) it still won't save the charger if one of the power supplies in the series fails for other reasons.

While the series power supplies do work well and are inexpensive a single larger power supply is always going to be the safest and most reliable option-- unfortunately high power single power supplies are expensive.

I have too much experience this year in the charger & power supply department with 3 4010's failing on me in 6 months-- the RC Groups post Gregor linked to above was actually Junsi's suggestion to me regarding my multitude of 4010 failures, they were hinting that my 3x server power supplies in series may be a contributing factor.

I'm looking forward to your O-Scope results. Regardless of the outcome, the Meanwell 2000 48 is an excellent supply. I'm getting the same output from two DPS 1001ABs in parallel. But they are huge and heavy. 14lbs vs the Meanwell's 4.3 lbs.

The Meanwell 2000-RSP-48 is fantastic from a weight & size standpoint as well as being powerful for a single supply... but you sure do pay dearly for it. And I bought 2 of them.

I'm hoping for two things from the Meanwells... first and foremost would be no more BBQ'd 4010s, and secondly I think they'll allow me to downsize to charging cases about 1/2 the size and weight of my current ones.

I'm confident they'll allow me to downsize my charging cases... but I'm not so sure they'll stop the 4010's from dying.

Seems that Junsi is having plenty of problems with their firmware not related to power supply's. My PSU is working great.

I just got two DPS-600PB PS's for 25$ shipped. I just tested one out, with two ichargers and pulled 41 amps from it. Not only did the power supply take it with flying colors, the voltage went up from 12.44 with no load to 12.56 with the load! WOW!

I previously bought a new 400 watt ATX power supply from tiger direct for 15$, it said it could supply 25 amps at 12 volts. HAhahahah! I pulled 12 amps and voltage dropped to 11 volts. When I pulled more then 14 - 15 amps the voltage steadily dropped down to below 10 volts and stopped the charger. What a waste.

Now I have an awesome PS that can supply both chargers and its lighter, and was cheaper! Not to mention a backup, if ill ever need it.

Love it!
