Default New upgrade oneway for x7

Looks like they chaged the oneway bearing to the sprag bearing type that xcell and 700n/e use.

Awesome, but how much is it gonna cost for people with the old design? My OWB has tons of drag right from the box.

I'm guessing close to $70. Same as replacing both parts to the current one-way assembly. Maybe we can reuse the current hub/sleeve...

Whole new hub and sleeve from what I can tell.. I hope it's a little better with side to side play though. I suspect it will be.

The side to side play is determined by the top and bottom needle bearings that sandwich the OWB, they handle the side load. If they don't upgrade these, or change the inner sleeve diameter, we'll still have the same result.

It's currently not much, but I have noticed the main gear will chafe against the motor support brackets under heavy power loading, that's what the white dust is from.

I think that the current OWB lockup is due to the inner sleeve diameter being too small, this allows the OWB "tabs" to fold over too far and bind, thus locking up. If they'd increase the inner diameter, the "tabs" would have less tendency to fold over and bind, AND have less play.

Arm chair engineers.

Default one way

My one-way bearing his work perfectly from the start, no play, excellent freewheel. I'm lucky in that respect.

Is this why my main gear moves a little? I noticed it during spool up the other day, main gear had a wobble until blades came up to speed then the gear ran true. I came inside and tore it apart to see if there was anything loose, everything seemed fine. I repacked the ow but it still has a little movement.

How do you when it locks up, do you see/hear the motor being driven by the main gear when it spools down?

What's the implication for an auto-rotation landing? Deadly? If a lockup is on the cards, then it might be more risky practicing auto-rotations than just trying do it when I need to?

So having to turn the motor is not slowing the head down much? Hang on, yours is working fine, how can you be sure?

On my whiplash the motor turns until the head speed is down to about 60 rpm's and It gives me no issues at all. Strange part is head spins very freely, with no drag if from a stand still then spinning the blades.

Interesting, it's behaving like a centrifugal clutch.

I flew mine 15-20 flights after it locked up. It spools down a little quicker, that's all. If you're comfortable doing autos in general then you'd be fine. I found I just had to give a little more reverse collective to keep the HS up while flaring.
