Thought I should post an update here.
The 450 is going great, as mentioned before I'm not into 3d as I just enjoy seeing her fly so I just do slow to medium FF, must have put 40+ packs through her now and haven't had any serious crashes apart from a couple of emergency landings into the nearest bush so no damage so far. I was so impressed with this bird I decided to go one step further and get myself a trex 550E DFC but this time I'm building it myself. Had it over a week now so the build is almost complete, just waiting for the lipo's so I can setup the head and the 3GX. Building the 550 has been an absolute joy, had zero problems throughout the build process. I used a AR6210 RX and she's all wired up ready for the lipo's, setting up the 3GX looks pretty straight forward but I still need to update the software to v3 before the setup. Can't wait to maiden the 550, it's so much bigger that the 450 and was surprised to find out that the 550 is the same size as the 600.

Been flying the 550 for a while now with zero problems, she flies great. I'm not that good so limit myself to scale flying but to date I've not crashed her. Since finishing the 550 I've built a 500 plus just finished building my latest which is a 800E Trekker. The 800 is an awesome machine but I did have a lot of vibration problems which turned out to be a TT bearing. Since finishing the 800 build I've upgraded all my heli's (trex 450,500,550 and 800) to beastX which I find is much better than the 3GX. Also treated myself to a DX8. Hmm, what's next on the list......

Glad you got her and she flew right off the bat, now, how to repair it and get it back to where it is now. That is what you gain when you build it yourself. My first 450 was a crashed Trex pro, no electronics except for the tail lock and an Orange receiver, off of ebay. Everything was bent or messed up. It required a lot of learning time to get it set back up without the advantage of any help or experience. Just tackle each thing one at a time. I do not agree about the analyses of Trex prices, you pay extra for the quality for sure, and extra to be made in a country that does not pay slave labor wages. If that is part of the "name" then I can take it. I have 3 of them now and for 450 and up they are like minimum. I have not had the pleasure of a Goblin or other high performance machine and their prices are up there as well. As was mentioned there is no bad decision. You are flying and that is the name of the game, best of luck with her and finding someone that will mentor you through this stage will be of great benefit.
I see you have quickly progressed, from beginner to 700 in a short amount of time, way to go. They are like potato chips, crisps as it were, one is never going to be enough! Last edited by bbbs53; 08-19-2013 at 05:30 PM.. Reason: added content |
