600E Pro main gear / pinion upgrade
I have the Trex 600E Pro, which has a 112T main gear, 13T pinion, and 510kv motor. Just made it FBL (Brain) with a DFC kit, and I'm not so happy with the head speed. It bogs down pretty easily, which I think is also the cause for my tail to kick out when changing pitch.
What do you guys consider to be a good upgrade? From what I've seen it doesn't seem like there's that much head speed to gain with this motor, but hopefully I'm wrong :-) |

Re: 600E Pro main gear / pinion upgrade
Yeah was considering that. The problem is that the 5000mah 6s batteries I have are just slightly too large to fit in the battery tray. Fits enough to put one but not 2. So then I'd have to buy new batteries that do fit.
Perhaps a cheaper/easier 'fix' would be putting a 1220kv motor and keep running with the 6s batteries I have? |

You could put a 6s mx1220 kv motor in it, but the 1220 6mm shaft is too short to reach the pinion bearing. You would need to put a 510 motor shaft in the 1220, then you would have to regear the heli, because your rotor rpm would be over 3000 rpm. I would highly recommed getting 2 6s batteries that fit the battery tray. Like 2 6s 3300mah batteries and fly it setup the way it was designed. Two 6s 3300mah batteries would be less expensive in the long run....

Thanks for the advice! Thought the 1220 would be a direct replacement. If it means having to change other things as well, I'll probably follow your advice and just buy new batteries

You're welcome. The 6s mx1220 motor has a short motor shaft, for use with a 550, 600cf, 600esp and electric converted 600n. None of these birds use the 600 pro bevel pinion and beveled 112 tooth main gear, and no pinion support bearing....

Once you go 12S, you'll understand what it's all about. Completely different bird with the right batteries and your motor. You only need 25C batteries as well for the stock motor, so the batteries aren't that expensive.
