I've not broken mine in yet. It has so much compression, I can't imagine it running smooth! Not enough sure my starter is going to be up to it...and I have the Dynatron with Finer Edge 19.2V Li-Ion.

I'm running OS#8 and 30% Cool Power. Break in was a PITA as my old starter couldn't turn it even on 4s lipo. Eventually the starter burnt up, so I had to upgrade. I've now got about a gallon through it and starting to lean 1 click at a time. I'm still coming down @ 140*F...ridiculous how rich it is and it still out powers the OS motors.

Thanks, guys. I just mounted my Tareq this weekend. My starter cranks it fine. It was astonishingly difficult to remove the fan hub from my 91sr. But, I separated the fan from it, and applied some heat from a gun, and gradually tapped the shaft through. Used PC Farenheit to fit the header manifold to the engine. While I was at it, I swapped out the Futaba S3051HV for a Torq BL9180. If anyone tries to convince you a fast servo is a waste, don't believe them. I ran into this on my X50. A fast servo made a lot of difference in my case, running Vbar governor.

Sorry - didn't mean to hijack.

Hope you can find the right formula because (YS & Vbar gov) are not easy to mate. Spent many days playing with GOV Gain and other parameters and it still was not spot on.

Rob i'm running stock shim.

I've got 2 gallons through My srx now. My low is pretty much set and don't have to tinker, high is about 1-2 clicks rich, mid is about 2-3 clicks rich. This motor seems to actually like running rich on mid range. I don't know exactly when these motors finally break in, but 2 gallons and it seems to hold my tune well, and is a monster of a motor even when running rich.
I'm running mine off the nitro gov firmware on the AR7200bx and spektrum backplate sensor and it's working grreat.

What's your reference point when you say 1-2 clicks rich. Sorry for the ignorance.

My SRX seems to like it rich on the mid. I'm maybe 3 clicks lean from the richest side listed in the manual. The low seems to be OK and I never have to touch it.

My reference point is finding lean where I can tell its lean ( both mid and high one at a time) backing off to 2 clicks rich, then adding 1-2 clicks and 2-3 clicks. I haven't checked my reference to fully closed or factory settings as I've been running it and making small adjustments along the way for the past 2 gallons. I usually don't make needle adjustments until I've beat on it for half a tank first.

Thanks!

I'm curious since I've been recently blowing out OS 8s. I now have an Enya 5 and switched to Vbar but haven't flown yet.

How many gallons do you have through it?

I was going thru a lot of os7 glow plugs also. I was thinking on the high compression. I put in a enya 5 as well. we'll see what happens this weekend.

A little over 5 gallons. The first 5 was 20% nitro. I'm now using 30% nitro and that seems to be blowing more plugs. Or it could just be coincidence.

Your elevation (profile says Denver) and running 20% is hinting that you may have removed shims to increase compression. Usually people increase nitro in higher elevation. You may want to recheck your shims as blowing glow plugs indicate too high of compression or too lean.
