Default Dual PL8 on one 48V psu or two individual 24v psu's?

A guy at the club has the dual pl8. The question came up about the power supply.

2 individual 1100 watt 24 volt for each channel or 1 2200 watt 48 volt for both.

Also can the PL8 handle slightly more than 48 v? All my psu's seem to throw 12.1 v. So together they would be a 1/2 volt over 48.

Separate supplies is better for the charger..... in theory. In practice, 48v is better than 24v when charging 6s packs due to the buck boost transitions. In practice, when running off a generator, near the limit of the generator, one supply works better than two.

While its possible to operate the DPL on a supply above 48v, its not recommended. The overvoltage safety code does not trip until 53v. But that is not a blessing by Revolectrix to run at 52.9v. The voltage of supplies bounces around during load so the resting voltage should at or below 48v if possible. There's a little room above that and it will vary by power supply.
