Hello all
I know FBL systems often move the servos around a little but am noticing my front signle one (Elev I think (?)) when just sitting and no flying is chattering and slightly moving back and forth all the time, while the two rears do virtually nothing. Was just wondering if anyone else is having the same? Thanks. Last edited by WBFAir; 07-10-2012 at 05:17 PM.. |

On my first 130x, my tail servo chatters, on my 2nd one, nothing does. Both fly perfect.

Been having same issue with my fron servo. Just lost control of it due to front servo not working during flight. Seems like I can do regular circuit with it but as soon I I start pushing it with flips and inverted, pitch pumps, etc the servo quits. My first one had same issue on right rear servo. Kinda of frankensteining the two to stay flying. Getting a little aggravated at my heli getting all beat up (canopy that is) when it is not my fault. Im flying well within my skill level.

My tail servo chatters also and so does my buddy's and he owns a hobby shop. Doesn't seem to affect anything......yet.

Is that doing it in TH or not? I found that the chattering is usually minimized when on TH and I think that has something to do with the ASX3 system.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies.
Don't know if anyone has tried this yet with the 130, but am just wondering if anyone with these chattering type of servos has fixed this with replacing the servo? Basically I have ordered a new one and hope thats what is the cause for this and that is isn't something from the board. Honestly, I think something is wrong with mine, the chatter I am talking about isn't light, its pretty bad. The drive wheel has constant movement while just sitting and almost make a full revolution back and forth sometimes. Helo actually flew fine when it was doing this, but I have grounded it till I get a new servo just in case. I know it wasn't like this when it was new so I think something is wrong with it and don't want it to completely go and maybe damage the main board if nothing is wrong with that. |

Just throwing a thought out there.
Have you pre-flighted the servos and made sure all the screws are tight aka the tiny brushes have good contact with the board?

Actually its interesting that this is mentioned as I had read some posts on checking the screws on the backs of these servo boards.
So when I had the frame split as I was doing a lot of work of replacing the A gear, I had the Port servo loose and this front one so I took a look at both and the screws were not loose on both but I was able to snug them all up a bit more then they were. Then it was right after this on the first flight when the servo started having the problems it is having. Kinda wonder if I tighten them too much on this front one and warped the mounting of things and or damaged something by it binding by what I did or in some other way. To tell you the truth, I wish I had just left it alone as it was working fine before I did that and/or at least that way, I would know if something I did or not. |

Try swapping the the servos plugs around between the cyclic servos. If it still chatters then you know for sure it's the servo. Then I would remove the mechanics from that servo and clean the contacts.

Yeah I had thought about that and I'll admit I don't have a lot of experience with these kind of parts so I don't know if I should be concerned with this, but my worry was, if something is wrong with the servo, and it could damage something or is putting a excessive load on the channel its on, on the main board, am worried about then apply that to another channel on it by trying this.
Basically aside for one or two test flights I did while this is happening, I have grounded the helo till I can get a new servo in it as I just don't want to take the chance it might do damage to something else that is still good. Know it might be a bit overly cautious, but that main board is like almost $90.00. One other thing I should mention and I don't know if it is related to this servo, but from all the previous flights I was doing, I found that setting my timer on my Dx7s to 4:30 min, consistently brought the only one pack I have now in at about 20-25%. But then for the few flights I had since the servos been messed up like this before I grounded it, it was coming it at 7% and once even 0. Might have been as I was doing a lot of take offs and landings as I was setting the helo back up from the big teardown, and or has something to do with it having the metal A gear on there, I don't know. But given how much the servo was always running back and forth, I'm wondering if that contributed to it too, which would tell you how bad it is. |

It's most likely the servo just getting dirty, tiny bits of dust or dirt on the potentiometer can cause the chattering. Shouldn't affect flying though

I had a twitchy servo and I snugged up the small screws on the back of the servo and that appears to have fixed the problem.

My tail servo has gotten twitchy on mine twice now (just put flight 325 on the bird before dark) I brought it into the shop after the flight and took the servo apart (very dirty) and cleaned the contacts. Took it out for a quick hover after this and the twitch is gone. Generally I have found when these servos start to twitch it is time to clean them up. The cyclic servos don't see the same kind of work that the tail servo does so I have only cleaned the cyclic servos once.
Hope this helps.... |
