Default scorpion 2221-6 motor Vs. eFlite 440

Is the 2221-6 worth the $80 to upgrade the 450X, is there a big difference between the two?

the motor wont bog like the stock one does when you apply alot of pitch, and if it does it spools back up to speed in a split second. After a week of reading everything i can and talking to others that made the swap I ordered one today. Now i cant wait to get it...

The hyperion-2221-4400 but thats just a re-branded scorpion but i think they are using different bearings. Which may be a good or bad thing. And I almost when that route but I was unsure about the pinion gear cause hyperion labels them as 3.2mm shafts and only the hyper pinions are 3.2mm and i needed a 9t which was a 3.17mm, now these could be exactly the same, and being able to have a LHS order hyperion parts but not scorpion parts could be part of your decision also. Ill be sure to post up my results tho...

The -6 is a real monster when it comes to power but it also is hard on packs and will drain them very fast. 3.5 minutes of hard 3D is all I got out of them. If you don't need crazy power I would recommend the -8 motor. It is very powerful, enough to do anything you can imagine, but it is easier on the packs. You will also get longer run times. I have flown both motors in my T-rex 450 pro and I must say I like the -8 better. This is mainly because I want to fly longer than 3.5 minutes.

What pinion are you using with the -8? This is the one I have been considering. I was thinking of the 12T. The online calcs seem to show ~ 3000RPM with this combo and maybe 35A max.

I'm flying my -6 for 4 to 4.5 min on a 9T pinion with no issues. But I don't do "hard" 3D either.

has anyine considered the align 450 mx motor?

its cheap powerful and reliable motor its only $50 compred to $80 for a scorpion

i know most people bag out align but they make great motors

align 450mx 3400kv motor will require a 12 tooth pinion and will run with stock esc

I think I have gone up to the 13 tooth but I have run it on the 12 and it has enough power for most flying. I am currently using the stock align 35amp esc. It has been a while since I have worked on or flown this heli though so I can't remember all the details.

I'd also like to know this. I like the power I have in my 450 pro with stock motor/esc. Its enough for me.

The -6 is a beast compared to the 440. It's a bit rougher on flight times but in response to that...I just bought more batteries. You'll really enjoy this motor.

Are you using it in a 450X? If so, what pinion and ESC? Thanks!

Why would you want a 3500k motor. FC3?
