Default Main grip bearing.

I'm used to seeing em closed, should i flip it
(and check for proper thrust race direction
while I'm in there) or does the outside washer
take care of keeping the lube where it belongs?

i would flip this bearing around as whats going to keep the grease / oil in when the head starts spinning at well over 2000 rpm,s.

Mine looks the same way. But I don't think it matters. In the X5, the Thrust Bearing is sandwiched between two radial bearings...so that bolt's washer is butting up against a radial bearing, not a thrust bearing. Vas, is this correct?

On the 550 grips, the bearings are in the same order, thrust in the middle, but the outer radial is sealed. Perhapse these are designed to be serviced regularly?

NG, i've left mine as the stock way for the reason just mentioned. Though i haven't had the need to grease since install. Being so close in distance to the main shaft. The rotating forces that close aren't near enough to de-grease them. I also packed mine extra with tri-flow grease and have yet to see any on any blade.

My major concern was dirt, but again have yet to find any there. The field i fly at is well grassed. As it stands it makes it very easy to lube. Remember these bearings aren't doing big revolutions. Just up/down the stick ranges.

caralmar, yes. Bolt,washer, radial,little washer,thrust,radial,washer,damper

Vas
