Default Futaba T6K & T-Rex 150X bind issue....

I'm posting this in case any other T6K users can comment on binding to the new T-Rex 150X.

I have been having no success binding my T-Rex 150X to my Futaba T6K. The 150X seems to be functioning correctly. It interfaces with the programming software and all the indicator lights seem to indicate correct function. This conclusion was reached with the aid of Align technical support.

I see that there is upgrade firmware for the T6K radio and I'm just waiting on for my Futaba USB interface to arrive in the mail to do the transmitter software upgrade.

If the T-rex 150X still won't bind after that, I may consider taking the 150X to a hobby store (if any still exist near me) and seeing if any other radio will bind. My only other transmitters are FM.

Currently there is no way I can see the firmware version of my T6K radio, however, after the upgrade, there will be a new menu item that will display the software version.

Your radio can do 2 communication protocols;
T-FHSS & S-FHSS

The Trex does S-FHSS

The radio is probably set to T-FHSS as a default, you will need to change it to S-FHSS for that model.

Yes, I do think there is some firmware issue with backward compatibility of the T6K V1 with S-FHSS in the 150 GRS. Looking at the Align T-6 (Futaba J6) manual, it seems like the T6K is a totally different radio, with nothing in common other than the "6" in the name.

In S-FHSS mode, the T6K V1 does bind to my Align 150 mRS just fine.

I checked the receiver boards on the 150 mRS and 150 GRS and they are physically different. They are not going to be interchangeable, as the connectors to the lower board are different. (Though the ESC boards are the same).

Update:

I upgraded my T6K radio to V2 specifications and still am unable to bind to the T-rex 150X. My T-rex 150 (non-x) still binds fine.

At this point, since I really want to fly the 150x, I'm looking at inexpensive S-FHSS radios. Or maybe a Spectrum radio so I can expand into the territory of the small Blade helicopters that don't work with Futaba.

Hey Ic-racer,

I got the 150X and a DSMX 9645 satellite and binded it with my Spektrum DX9 transmitter. I managed to get it flying once after setting up via the app and adjusting the expo and curves. Then after adjusting the cyclic gain, although it would still bind the Heli no longer took commands from the DX9 no matter what I tried.

I’m going to order and try a lemon sat. In the meantime the 150X will bind to my xk x6 transmitter and everything works fine so if your still looking for a transmitter you could try that. They are pretty cheap so not at the quality of Spektrum transmitters

I have a T6K V2 I can test with a friend's Align 150X this weekend.
I'll reply back my results.
