I keep track of my batteries, and have a preflight check from head to tail.

I have kept a log book of all my helis and flights since the late 80's. It was easy to spot the high maintenance helis or components with it.
I also found it useful for recording specific info on different rotor blades tested, or batteries, or exhaust systems etc. Initially I did so manually, then using an XL spread sheet and now one that I downloaded from the Pivotal Hobbies site a number of years ago.

I personally admire the discipline of those who keep a log of every flights on their heli and can tell how many flights they've had.
Me, I just check the timer counter on my radio, divide the number by the average flight times, subtract the approximate radio fiddling time...then I got the approximate number of fight times for a specific heli.
