will 500 landing gear fit?
just wondering if i can put some larger landing gear on my 450 . every time i land i get a little tipsy and crashed once when blades hit. I think a wider landing gear would help me. will any other gear fit the 450?

yes it will fit, you just need to drill a couple of holes and mount them. they do look a little funny, but as you say, i don't care and kept my 450 with the 500 gear on. it makes it easier to take off and land in grass, aleast for me

I have a friend that uses 500 gear on his 450. Just gives you a larger footprint. Its all in what you like. Dont worry about what others think. You may have to modify the foam in your case if you have one.

500 Landing Gear
I've fitted the 500 gear too, just drill out to centre the wider gear.
I'm still very much a new flyer and have found my 450 Sport flies much better with the 500 gear compared with the training gear (sadly they don't prevent all crashes though,) Like others have commented the wider footprint give a greater stability when learning to land. Good luck and enjoy your flying.

There are a ton of posts and pics on doing this mod. Lots of guys even use Trex 600 skids. When you are learning who cares how it looks when people chastise you with their opinions. On the main forums there are hundreds of guys doing it, most like the look!
On mine I had to because I fly on grass and rough terrain. I have 500cf tail blades and components mounted underneath that I simply don't want damaged. In fact, I am doing another build right now to replace my lost bird from last week, guess what? It is having a 600 skid upgrade. If you get into hardcore 3D just pull them off and put the stockers back in place.

My 500 landing gear just arrived. Will be drilling the holes and putting them on the 450 Pro tonight. Once I'm really good at least taking off and landing without issue, I'll go back to the regular 450 Gorilla landing gear. I'm optimistic that I'll get there!

Once you find out how stable these are on grass and rough terrain you may never go back!

You could try using spider gear! It is a little heavier than stock but it gives the 450 a wider footprint and also raises it up off the ground quite a bit.

Just finished my 500 upgrade! WOW...what a stability improvement over the old. I am just a newbie pilot so these are great insurance! Love it.

I had mine with the 500 too but recommend to shorten the pipe a bit, otherwise easy to get bend.

I use the 500 gear as well. Works GREAT!!! I also think 500 gear looks better, the stock 450 pro gear look to small and out of proportion. My 2 cents

Omg that thing looks like it has pontunes for a water landing. Lol. What ever it takes to learn, I like seeing different and goofy mods, gives your heli a little character.
