Default App for the iphone

Was trying t find an app that would allow me to keep a list of the parts that I needed to pickup from the LHS or online so that when I went to order I had all the numbers and descriptions. Something a little more than a simple list would be cool so that the part numbers were handy and possibly the last price I bought it for etc.

Anyone know of anything?

Not offhand but I"m sure there probably is one.
Or you could make a google docs spreadsheet and use that. Then you could update on the fly or at your leisure from your pc. Just a thought.

I don't have one but I put the list on note and take pictures of web pages on the iPhone by hitting the top button and the bottom button at the same time. This is stored in your photos. This way when you are arguing over web prices and the store prices you can show them it is cheaper on their website

Cheers
Steve

I just use a simple list. Sometimes directly in EverNote, and other times a Word or Xcel doc in Dropbox. Pros and cons either way, but in both cases I can maintain the list on my home pc or my work laptop, and see it on my Android phone at the LHS.

I use EVERNOTE, it is nice because I can update the list on my computer and it is sync to my iPhone or iPad. Plus anywhere with Web Access I can pull it up.

My brother-in-law is a developer who makes iPhone apps. I'll have to put a bug in his ear about this one...

I use GroceryIQ.

Just add the parts as if they were grocery items, then you can add the hobby shop.

Then when you get in the store you can look up what you need to buy in that store.

Works like a charm, and syncs between multiple devices.

I use a google docs spreadsheet. It has a row for every part I've ever broken. The first few columns are part info, part number (important for searching readyheli), costs/units, etc.
After that, each column corresponds to a crash; most recent crashes on the left.

It helps a lot in practice, at least with my workflow:
  • after a crash, create a new column and list everything that appears to be broken on first teardown
  • review that against inventory and use colors or words to mark items as "have" versus "need" or "update if available"
  • Review the entire list of parts to see if I neglected to check anything
  • Run through the list and place online order, or...
  • Show up at LHS, open google docs on my phone, go through the list and watch the LHS owner smile get larger and larger.

I have one such spreadsheet document for each heli.

NOTE: It is very important that you do not make it possible to total up your historical crash costs, nor to calculate the true cost of a crash (order cost plus cost of parts from inventory).
