If riding in a plane is flying, then riding in a boat is swimming. You must leave the vehicle to truly experience the environment.

Cool. Stupid question. What do the numbers mean on the Mega motor, ie 22/45/3?

Please don't ask Tom to explain all he knows about electrics--we don't have the space or bandwidth

Jared
With the Mega's 22 is the motors rotor dia. (in mm), 45 is the rotors length and the 3 is the number of "windings"
All of these motors have what is called a KV rating
A rating of 1 Kv simply means that with no load on the motor it will spin 1000 rpm's for every volt you put into it.
I have found that you will get about 80% of that rating while in flight.
I average about a 30 amp draw over the flight

Note that ever motor manufacturer uses a different system so you have to look and compare some other more important numbers that can be hard to find sometimes

Also most of these motors come from industrial applications
One guy on this board is working on his own design motor
Can't wait to help him test it!

Sluggo
About 8 hours including assembly of the kit and making it fly.
Still working on making it better Once I get it just where I want it.
I'll start on a new project

It flies for 7 min
It flies really good for 5min
With my original gearing you could cruise around at 1550 for almost 10 min

I'm pretty happy with the current setup

No lipo's for me right now I'm waiting on the price to match my bank balance :!:

I don't think my Phoenix 60 is up to the Lipo's (Voltage wise)

Tom,

They took some video at Birmingham but I haven’t seen it.
I spent the money for my camcorder on lipos.

"I spent the money for my camcorder on lipos."

I laughed pretty hard at that .....until I realised how true it was.

I can see the cardboard sign "Will work for Lipo's"

New blades don't have balance tape. Please remove. Edge also does this.
