Default 2011 FIRST OF THE YEAR HELI BASH, Tulare California, DEC. 31, JAN. 1, and JAN. 2

All right it's that time of the year again to ring in the new year with some all out HELI flying, camping, and just hanging out with old friends and meeting new ones. This will be our third annual event.
This will be a very laid back funfly just open flying the only contest will be to get the most flights in as possilbe. Maybe a demo or two at noon we'll just see how it goes. We will have four huge flight stations should be plenty of air space. Any body that wants to night fly can have at it. As you know it can get a little cold this time of the year so if you have propane heaters bring them, we have plenty of room for RV's or tents. AMA IS REQUIRED, but there will be NO PILOTS fee just sign in. And we will be requiring 2.4 radio systems due to the fact we are next to a airplane field. Due to the grounds rules there can be NO alcohol.
This year it's going to be at the Condors R/C club, located at the AG center just south of Tulare, ca. Directions 99 north or south get off at the Paige exit go east on paige go throw the four way stop and take a right at the second street which is the porterville turn off then go a 1/4 mile and take a right on commercial ave take that down to the end of the pavement and continue on the dirt drive way to the funfly. You can reach me at 559-901-7955 for any questions.
Jeff

Thinking about it
Could you post the coordinates of the field?

Kyle and I always go to this, as I can't take a 17 year old to the bars the night before, so there's no "hang-over" excuse, and, (I know in America it's sacrilege), but I can't stand to sit and watch New Years Day football games and the Rose Parade

So flying helis in the cold with the guys is it

We had a good time the last couple of years.

Default GPS Directions

For you GPS users out there, if you plug the coordinates Jeff posted into a self routing GPS, the GPS is likely to lead you to the wrong side of the Ag center because that's where the closest road to the flying field is. Unfortunately, you will not be able to get over to the flying field from there.

The actual entry point to the flying field is at

N 36 10.743'
W 119 18.610'

This is the intersection of Turner Dr and E Commercial Ave in Tulare, CA for those of you that can enter a intersection into your GPS units. From that intersection, go up Commercial (from the intersection there is only one way), go to the left around the barricade at the end of the pavement and continue up the dirt road to the end. The flying field will be just to your left and you will see it before you get to the end of the dirt road. My GPS shows those coordinates as

N 36 10.314'
W 119 19.154'

Default Turbines

Yes, I see no problem with turbines we dont have any grass to catch on fire and we have a huge flight line so your more than welcome to bring it along.

Great! Sounds like the usual diehards well be there for the cold. I'am coming in the RV ( has heater) with the night heli for my first fight of the year at 12:01 am. Hope the turn out is as big or bigger than last year. Was one of the best fun flys of the year.

Ken, we'll have to see who gets into the air first. I'm shooting for 12:00::30!

I'm going to have to do a crossover flight. Start the flight on Dec 31st and land on Jan 1st.

I see a fun contest here. As the countdown starts person that can pull out of a tail slide closest to the ground right at New Years wins!!!! I'm just imagining multiple night rigs screaming towards the ground in a high speed game of chicken with the ground.
