Hi runnerxc

Don't recall if finless mentions how to secure the flybar, but for sure it moves around. It is meant to be loose, and that is how it performs its job. Paddles tilt/twist, create an aerodynamic force, move, and fly the blades to a different angle so that they can produce the appropriate cyclic lift at any given point in the rotation.

It is a known issue / difficulty for setting up a flybar heli, and there are even little tools created for the job. Some that clip to the main shaft, and slide up to the flybar, until both sides touch, some that clip to the head. Of course designed to hold them square.

Much as this will sound heath robinson, I just used to pile up some books, either side of the heli. Some people made a frame out of lego, etc, etc.

Anyway, I guess they will be called flybar locking tools. Just google that and see what comes up.

Yes, I did just that, and you'll see a whole bunch of examples of cleverly designed little contraptions.

Not sure about the relevance of plugging the servo directly into the receiver.* If you want to do what is known as a rate mode set-up, just turn the gain right down, and the servo arm will go to centre anyway. In heading hold mode, any gain above halfway, your arm will not return to centre, but any value less than halfway and it will.

For the set-up of that gyro there will be shed loads of how to posts or even videos. Just google gy401b set-up, which is probably what it is a clone of, or very close copy. You could even try googling hk401b set-up itself, and someone will probably have done a write up on that.

Yup, I just googled that, and loads of videos, instructions and manuals come up.

Have a look at those then give us a shout back if there's anything you need specific guidance on.

* Note that you could not/must not even do this with a modern gyro/FBL and a specialist tail servo. The specialist tail servos operate on different specifications than is output from the receiver. Specifically the frame rate and centre pulse width. A standard receiver output cannot be modified to suit the servo in question, but the gyro/FBL unit's can.

Cheers

Sutty
