Replace the antenna wires on a Neo Vlink ?
Hi I bought a used VBar Neo Vlink from a guy on Helifreak. When I opened the box the insulation on the antenna wires is damaged and thhe case had some scatches / gouges on the bottom. So I took the case apart to see if the tabs are cracked and they are.
So I need a new case. Easy enough to fix but I would like to change the antenna wires as well at the same time. I tried to slide the little blue cover for those wires to see if I could remove it but the insulation on the wires don't want to slide easily through. Has anyone change the antenna wires befor ? Does the two boards come apart to get the antenna wires out ? Also they show two cases 05059 V2 / 05005 and a conversion kit 05062 or just the antenna wires 05063 180mm or 05064 250mm .

. carefully remove the case (might need a spare one if you break the closing tabs, which happens pretty easily I'm afraid, or if you damage the label)—use a suitable flat screwdriver and be gentle . carefully remove the pcb from the bottom portion of the case . use a small flat screwdriver to peel off the double sided adhesive at the edges so you have better access to the antenna wires and connectors, it sticks to the other pc board in the meantime . DO NOT apply force in a way to pull the pc boards apart, as not to damage the soldered connection between main board and receiver board . carefully unclip the micro coax connectors for both antenna wires, and carefully pull them out from between the pc board and the double sided adhesive, take note how the wires are bent: the bend and the double sided adhesive serve as a strain relief . bend the new antenna wires accordingly, at the connector end, and insert them in between board and tape, make sure the bends 'spoon' and do not come to lie across each other . clip on the connectors flatly . align everything properly and put on the tape again at the edges . put on the grommet and put everything back together, and carefully again as not to break the closing tabs It's a bit of fiddly work but not impossible, just take your time and be gentle Kind regards Eddi Born to fly ... forced to work.

It says do not try and pull the boards apart. It sounds a little delicate but it can be done.

Among my Vbar Neo Vlinks, there is a version like yours, i.e. double deck pc boards with antennae in between. The other version is single pc board.
IMHO, I would not attempt to replace the antennae with the double decker, even if I can remove the old antennae, it is a challenge for me to put the new one back in place. My friend broke one of his Vlink when replacing antennae, the connections between the boards are very delicate. For the single board version, it is an easy task though. Chris |

I have replaced all but one of the antenna pairs on my V-links. You have to get the boards apart but not by much. I haven't had a problem on any of the 5 I did this to.

Not the same subject but I had to remove a Neo after just installing it on my Diabolo 550. I couldn't get at the USB plug because of a bar where the battery rest up against. I had to turn the tray over to give me more room. I think it was Vinger or someone said use dental floss to remove the Neo. Someone else said use fishing line. It works awesome! I took fishing line and two pieces of wood for handles. You saw the Neo off back and forth. It works best if you keep the line straight and move it left to right. Comes right off with out any damage to the Neo case.

Success !! I replaced the antenna and the Neo case. I followed the instructions and it went well. Just have to be carefull. The Vcontrol shows the antenna status to be perfect. Registered the VBar and updated the firmware. So all seems good.
