Default Anyone try Axon governor yet?

The Bavarian Demon Axon has been out for a bit now and has the long sought after built in governor. Just wondering if anyone has tried it yet with a Zenoah engine.

Default That could be the case

But I did not buy one to try out as from what I heard about the governor I didn't personally like the way it was programmed to operate, with wait times to engage and not being able to bail out of an auto and get the governor back engaged unless you do a full stop landing and spool up from scratch on the ground.

I talked to JC this weekend about his Axion. He says the gov is excellent. On his Nitro so should work on gas with some tuning.

No first hand experience. But maybe send a PM to AndrewJHawes here on HF.

He is the Australian BavarianDEMON Distributor and may just give you the snippet of advice you need.

Bumping this back up. Anyone have any reports yet? Trying to decide if I should put a Spirit Pro on my gasser or pick up an Axon.

Default I tried it at IRCHA

At this moment I'll have to tell you that it doesn't work for gassers or nitros, its good from what I hear for electrics. So if you're looking to put it into an electric then great, otherwise I would wait on this as it still needs to be tested and ironed out and I'm going to work with them to see what we can do to make it work as it should.

Thanks for the feedback. When I didn't hear any feedback after a day or so I grabbed the new Spirit Pro I had on the shelf for it instead of ordering an Axon.

I had this discussion with Joachim at Florida Jets. It just needs some additional parameters so that its more adjustable. Not sure if they are going to add them or not

There was a point where the Spirit gov did not work on gassers according to posts in the Spirit thread. Has that been fixed now?

I've not seen any gasser-specific feedback, but it seems to be working with nitros.

I tried and could not get the Spirit governor to work well on my whiplash, went with the V-bar and now have a very good gov.

I pmed with a couple of people who have it working on their gassers, and I've been very happy with the performance on my nitro, plus I had one just sitting on the shelf, so I'm giving it a go. I can tell you that the Spirit governor was garbage last year when I first tried it, so I abandoned ship and didn't bother trying again until a month or so ago when I got curious and gave it another try on one of my nitros.

I hope to get out and try it today, this gasser I bought used turned out to have a few things wrong that weren't disclosed (isn't that always the case), so it's taken a bit to get it up and going. If I can get the Spirit gov to work, great. If not, I'll throw on the ATG I had on my last gasser that worked really well.

Follow up to my previous post. No go on the Spirit governor. I can get it to kick in here and there but it's not reliable. Didn't feel like messing with it any more and put my ATG V3 on. ATG works great from day 1.

So, what is an ATG exactly?
I'm about to try an Ikon2 gov on my gasser. Heard of that working or not?

It's not made anymore, it was Curtis Youngblood's governor. I'm sure the Ikon works great, it has he best governor I've ever used, but I'm also sure that the rescue would be useless in a gasser, so I didn't put one on it.

Hi, I have the Ikon (Brain) on a Goblin with the mounting plate from Doug Darby. Vibs do not exceed 30 with the new software and Rescue works fine.

Governor works well.

Governor works well.

That's the issue, even when vibes aren't excessive (I also have Doug Darby's plate on my nitro), my Brain2 HD will randomly decide to rescue knife edge or some other random orientation. It's just not reliable with rescue for me, I use the Futaba tape like they say and it'll work great 9 times out of 10, but that 10th time who knows what direction it'll go at damn near full collective. It's not just on combustion engines, either, even the electrics, sometimes I'll be flying hard he test it and enjoy the surprise of it shooting at the pits or something. If rescue isn't 100% then I can't risk using it in anything other than a test at a high altitude.
