Great thread Scott. Next build I think you deserve a break. Just take a picture of the box and then video the maiden. Add a link to all your build threads and say, "Do this!"

Thank you, sir! Coming from you, it means a lot to me! Thank YOU for your patience and understanding. If I get to do one on the eXo, I'll try not to trip and fall through any walls!

LOL! Thank you, Michael! Somehow building and not taking thousands of pictures just doesn't seem right, you know?

Default Some other stuff...

So, today I got to do the first hover to confirm that the settings I used were correct. I did it in my back yard so there's no video. I'm happy to report that everything worked as programmed and the helicopter was extremely stable in hover. Blade tracking was spot-on!

So, here's some of the stuff I did today prior to doing the first hover.

Thanks to Crickr1 who posted about these a while back. They're Dubro Body Klip retainers. Man, look at all those clips!

You get two retainers and a ton of clips! Pick one side of the retainer and slide a clip through the hole in the rubber end. See that little round thing in the center of the retainer? It's a grommet of sorts. I attached the retainer to my ESC tray...

...by just inserting the grommet part between the slots in the tray. I don't think it's going anywhere!

Since there are two retainers per length, I cut off one side.

The end of the retainer has a small hole cut in it, so you just slide the clip through it! No more lost clips!

When you want to remove the battery tray, you just pull off the clip and with the retainer, it just hangs to the side. Very cool mod! Thank you, Crickr1!

Before I tested my setup today, I put Goop on all but one of the connectors to the Vortex. For the time being, I'm not Gooping the second power lead. After tuning, I'll be certain to goop that connector, too!

Here's the rear side of my battery tray. I used three Scorpion straps for the front and rear battery, but I used the stock Compass velcro strap for the rear. Why? Well, with my 7hv I would fight a lot to get the tray in with the Scorpion straps--especially at the rear. So, for the Chronos I decided to change it up. The rear slides in perfectly, now.

Here's the front of the battery tray.

That's about it for now. It's too windy today for a Vortex trim flight, so that will wait likely until the evening when the wind subsides. So... I have to say, I'm very happy with this helicopter! In a lot of ways, it's like going home!

Great thread, Scott! I've always liked your build threads because they are so in depth!

Thanks for the tips on the KST servo arms and the Elevator position. I need to mod mine too because I have the issue of the servo arm hitting the servo case.

Thank you! And...You're welcome, Derek--on all counts! Having to shim the servo out was my only disappointment with the arms. Most arms aren't symmetric, so that's my thought about why shimming was necessary.

Thank you, Phil.

I am hoping for some flying in June. I am on-call this weekend and next weekend we have a family outing to make up for the lack of Mid America this year. I have taken it up four times since finishing--it's a beautiful helicopter!

Thank you so much, Rick! If it wasn't for your support, I'd still be trying to get the swash plate level! Seriously, doing what you did for me was above and beyond what I could have ever expected. Thank you, sir!

Scott posted this on his FB page, and I've read the whole thing.. And, I don't even own a Chronos (although, I think that will change soon... <grin>)

This is simply, the greatest build log I have ever seen, period!

And, now after reading through this whole thing, in one sitting, I might add, I feel I need to go back, and rebuild all of my helis... There are just too many things, all small, I've never thought of doing myself... At the very least, I need to go back and rebuild a few heads, check a few screws here and there, and probably fix zero pitch in all of them as well...

Scott, thanks for posting this.. It was a joy to read...

Now, just need to get together to fly... (after I've fixed all my helis, that is.. LOL)

Joe_Breezyjr

PS. where did you buy the KST adjustable servo arms? I did a quick google search, but haven't found anything on this side of the ocean, yet...

Thank you so much! That made my day!

I got the KST arms at (don't laugh) Bangood. Shipping was very fast, too!

There's a fun fly Sept 11 in Goodells!

Thanks, again!

Your very welcome...

I thought I knew most everything about building helis... (I've built enough of them..) But, I don't think I've ever taken a head apart, that didn't specify it to be done... or a tail... Or a baring block... <grin>

Unfortunately, busy that weekend with kids games...

Don't know why this is so hard to find,. but I can't seem to find the Uprgaded Main grip diagram showing which direction the thrust bearings go on the inner side, ie: bigger hole washer,.. does it go same direction as outer thrust bearing,. or opposite outer thrust bearing?

Check out this link. https://www.helifreak.com/showpost.p...3&postcount=17

I documented the order the bearings came out in my grips there--they're reverse order. Depending on the tightness of the radial bearing, you may want to use green thread locker on the bearing/grip mating surface.
