Default PL8 Duo, help me understand EC5 female

So I received my new PL8 Duo yesterday and when I went to plug it into my power supply the charger has EC5 female plugs installed. help me understand why?

Don't mis-understand, I love the EC5 plug on the input power, I just expected a male plug on the charger. my thoughts are with a male plug I could, in theory, power the charger from a 3s - 6s lipo for easy rx pack charging (which I've done with my 306b).

Anyway, its not a big deal, like I said i'm just wondering. Also I assume replacing the female connectors with male connectors wont void my warranty?

thanks for the input.

I don't know what their reasoning was. I changed mine to a male back when I had that charger. iChargers have male EC5s on them.

Changing the connector will not void the warranty. I use Anderson Powerpole connectors on my PowerLab.

The EC5 is reversed deliberately as a safety measure. If you use a lipo for the charging source and go into regenerative mode the power can be outputted back to your source lipo at a 40 amp rate. Yikes!

I changed mine too... so I could use my PSUs.. and I just soldered the proper EC5 to a car jumper cable too since I use deep cycles to fast field charge.
