Default tail twitch

The tail twitches a couple of degrees every so often in hover. Is this normal for a 450 size heli? Its not bad, just slightly annoying.

I have torque tube tail drive. Tail is silky smooth.
Vibes less than 0.9 . No visible vibes either.

Tried two different tail servos.

Logging is off.

Tail gain set to 24.

Tried with/ without gov. Manage collective.
Gov gain at 30

Any thoughts please....

Cheers

had a bit of a breakthrough this morning, tail twitch nearly all gone, I can still see it but just slightly now, it appears my tail gain was too high, stopping gain a bit low, heading hold low too, after playing with these it got a lot better, maybe it is settings! all my testing was done upright but does involve flying backwards( for the heading hold gain) I was going to just accept it too but I must be ocd too as my beast x trex doesn't have the twitch and this is a much better gyro

Hi GM,

my card is cleared before every flight.

i almost suspect i am seeing things ...

just the odd twitch. i will try to film it sometime. .i should concentrae more on flying than watching my tail twitching

I have never been able to get the tail on a 450 or smaller to be 100% perfect, they either feel a bit vague or you get the odd very slight twitch (usually linked to wind IMO). I never notice when I am not just hovering and looking for the problem so I just ignore it.

My 500 was perfect pretty much right off the bat, though.

Thanks Anthony. I had my stop accel at 27 and have now increased it to 35 . This has removed the twitch. Cheers for the great tip!!

I see your tail gain is over 40%. If I go above 30% tail gain on my MT I can see a very small , say 2mm , tail wag.

I am using the "lock tail gain" value as my dx6i doesnt have a spare channel to regulate this.

the dx6i should have one spare channel? You should have a gear channel, unless you're using it for cyclic gain

I hear you on being ocd. I am very picky about how well my models fly aswell. Fighting a slow wag on my gasser still so now I am thinking of playing more with the settings.

I now have my tail gain locked at 30, my whole flight is wag free until the end when I can hear the batteries struggling then the twitch is back for landing and is really no big deal however with my new batteries there is no twitch at all, my old batteries must have around 500 - 700 flights so all in all I think I got a good deal out of them.

Thats 20% higher than my gain. Do you have the sk governer on? I have my sk gov at 30% so maybe this is making a difference.

I use my spare dx6i channel for sl bailout.

Thanks for all the help. Im happy with my setup now . Cheers....

could be to do with the fact that my tail blades are small compared to other 450's and yes i'm using the sk gov set at 25%

Thanks Anthony.

I may try turning down my sk gov to 25%. My tail blades are KBDD 61mm.
