Default Heli goes up to fast

Hi there,
I have a small problem with my pitch/throttle curves and hope you can help out.

First some info.
I use an Align 430L 3500RPM with a 11T pinion
My radio is a Futaba 6EXP
My mechanical pitch is around -11/+11 (give it 0.5 difference)
I use the following throttle curve in normal mode. 0,50,75,100
I use the following pitch curve in normal mode. 0,25,50,75,100

I will explain in clicks, because the throttle stick works like that. It does not go smooth on the Futaba 6EX,but in small steps, feels like small clicks.

So what happens.
5 clicks throttlestick above 50% the heli starts lifting till*10-20 cm above ground.
When adding 1 more click throttle on the transmitter it goes up to 2-2.5 meters!!
Is this normal?

If I wanted to hover at 1 meter above ground, I had to continiously increase and decrease throttle by 1 click in order to keep it there.*

I tried playing with the throttle/pitch curve, but can't get it in a nice flow and get the heli up in steps by 1 meter. Hopefully somebody can explain to me if this is normal behavior or has some tips to help me out.*

This should be no problem to solve, I think. That radio, with a ratchet, is for planes. For helis it should be smooth. This would allow you to choose any thottle position you want. If you have to talk in terms of number of clicks, then you will never get it how you want it, on any heli. Research how you change your radio to smooth throttle control. Sometimes you just turn the ratchets over, or similar, inside. Sometimes you have to fit a spare, etc. I'm sure if you google it you will find a hit or two.

Cheers

I forgot to say, i use a futaba 6ex transmitter. ;-) so i can change my endpoints, pitch curves, etc. And the throttle goes in small steps, like clicks. It never goes smooth. So i'm talking in clicks, to explain how much more throttle i give.

Yes, I saw that you use that radio, and you explained it goes in clicks.

This is not how you should have a radio set up for a heli. You will never get it to ascend in small amounts, as you are restricted to a click at a time.

Here is a link that explains how to fix it in your radio, and make it smooth, as it should be for a heli.

Ratchet

Google it for more links.

Hmmm reading some more, and i think you are right. Even on the futaba 6exp i have to replace the ratchet for a smooth one. :-) thanks for pointing that out.

Wauw, that works like a charm. I opened the transmitter and flipped the spring. It's almost smooth as butter. Never though of that! Thank you soooo much for pointing that out.

Okay, no problem. Hopefully you will have the little extra control you need now. If it is still too sensitive, then +-11 on a Belt-CP is a little aggressive, so you could bring that down in your swash mix or similar to +-10, or even 9. However, if you like that punch, I do, just try to get used to it. The recommended value in the manual is +-7, but I know you have some mods there, so I guess that doesn't really apply any more.

Cheers
