Default BC6-DC gets HOT during storage mode

I'm attempting to store new Voltz 2200 Mah, 3S 11.1 LiPo batteries; however, when I program the BC6 for storage mode at 0.5 amps the charger gets extremely hot very quickly. When connecting the batteries for storage they were fully charged. Is it normal for the charger to get HOT during this procedure? Thanks. Also, I connected the Deans plug and also the balance plug to the charger. Should both be connected?

The BC6DC does not have a fan so the outer case is the heat sink. Yes, the case will get warm. If you have the balancer connected, the discharge will keep the cells balanced. Make sure that you have the charger on a solid surface and not carpet as the unit (like all chargers) need to have air under the unit.
