Throttle Servos For Gassers

Hello Gasser RC Heli pilots.

I have searched the forums and haven't found any recent discussions on suitable throttle servos for gassers.

What I'd like to see is:

1) What qualities are needed for a gasser throttle server.

2) Recommended throttle servos for low voltage (nom 5 volts).

3) Recommended throttle servos for LiFe(2S).

4) Recommended throttle servos for LiPo (2S).

A discussion in one thread should be useful for newcomers to gassers and others needing to replace throttle servos.

I think you don't see much discussion since it is not a highly stressed servo. I grab used cyclic servos I have kicking around, DS610, DS620, S9452 have all worked without issue. On any heli with a governor, you do need reasonable speed for the servo to react quick enough. Just because gassers are not cheap, I would not use a cheap servo on the throttle.

Linkage on a gas servo is important.

I use DS650's on my 2 gassers. Over 2 years and no problems so far.

I run Futaba BLS 451 on all my Gassers at 8.4V.
Works fine. No Failures.

I plan high voltage system as I already have 3 HV for cyclic, I made a long search and I bought this:

Hitec HS-5495BH Digital Standard High Voltage; 23,95$ + 7$ shipping.
Karbonite gear
Speed: 6.0v / 0.17 sec/60
Speed: 7.4v / 0.15
Torque: 6.0v, 88oz
Torque: 7.4v, 104oz

I don't know if it's good, other HV option are 4X this price.

Hyperion make some nice servos, they have HV ones that are less than $40. Not tried their STD size ones, but no issues with their mini or micro versions.

Thanks for the replies so far.

I was hoping there would be more discussion on nylon gears versus metal and things to watch out for due to additional vibrations from gasser engines.

From what I have read, most of the time guys seems to use what they have laying around for throttle servo, and it's often plastic or carbonite gear. I read a few case of stripping metal gear, I can guess it's due to the gear ratling with vibration, but other have reported good success with metal gear, I can't comment further, I don't have any experience with this.

I would like to read here some experience with metal gear also.
