What is the difference between the SR and 120 SR?

SR is a 300 class collective pitch helicopter. Too large to fly indoors and outdoors need to be calm. More like a hobby grade heli but not quite. Look at the blade 450X for your first CP heli

120SR is fixed pitch and utilizes rotor rpm change to increase lift. This one is really stable for a beginner however is a bit big to be flying inside an average size room. I have one of these and it is quite durable. The 45 degree flybar causes some unwanted forward flight tendancies.
. I'd suggest the mSRx if you want an indoor beginner heli. Then get the Phoenix simulator to learn CP helis. Then setup a 500 size heli like trex or Protos.

I do not suggest going to a 450 X for your first CP heli. Once you snap a CF blade your out $30-$40 depending on what kind of blades you put back on it.

I would suggest the mcpx as a first time CP. Low crash cost and barely breaks when your over grass.

The sim will help but to a point. I used it for a while and now I really don't use the sim. It is a really great tool to help you out but nothing beats flying something live. The 120sr is a bit big for indoors and would only fly it outside. If you want indoors like said above get the msrx that is coming out.

The SR will be a massive handful to any new CP pilot. The DD tail is the biggest fault of it.

Is this your first heli period or are you just wanting to know?

Texasclouds said it best for the difference though

I have had the 120 SR for about a month now and am getting pretty good at it. Was thinking about moving to a mCPX for my first CP heli. I definately plan on getting a simulator and a DX6i radio.

Smart move if you go to a mcpx. I wish I did when I was first learning CP. The DX6I will be great with the mcpx and the sim. Just put time into the sim to get yourself familiar with the controls of the CP and also use the mcpx as a live sim. That's what I do. I try a new stunt on the sim first to see if it would work and if it doesn't then I keep at the sim until I can do it decent then go to the mcpx for the finishing touches

Thanx for the replies. I'm sure I will need help setting up the new heli and radio when I get them. Will I be ok buying a used DX6i or should I try to buy new?

Used would be fine but I would recommend getting the DSMX one. It is the newest one and you can usually find them up in the for sale section. On the front panel where the display is it will have a big X on the right hand side
