Default Elevator Servo Placement...

So I just about have my 450 PRO build buttoned up, just waiting on my servo sleeves to arrive. With some of the waiting time I decided to watch Finless Bob's vid's on the servo setup so I can see if I did everything correctly. In his video I noted that he mounted the rear elevator servo on the inside of the frame, and then put the ball link on the back of the servo horn to line up everything to the swash. I just mounted my servo from the outside and the servo horn has the ball link on the outside, everything lines up perfectly. Is there a pro or con to mounting either way? Cause if you mount it like Finless did you have to really tear apart the heli to access the servo if needed. The way I did it you just unbolt and go. Any thoughts? I want this to be set up right so any input is appreciated.

Mine is mounted on the other side of the frame and on the inside. I don't see any reason it won't work as long as everthing still lines up. Normaly if I replace a servo I just remove the whole servo holder as one piece with all the servos attached then remove the servo you want to replace, sence I only do this after a major crash it's not a problem because the head will already be off. Also make sure the canopy will fit with the servo like that.

Ya thats true... the are 65-MGs so they should be ok on the inside because they are pretty sturdy. I put my servo on the right side because my ESC is on the side of the left frame. Tried to do the CG thing, I just tested the canopy and it is close, but it fits. I guess by biggest thing about putting it on the inside is I just thread locked everything and I am feeling lazy haha. If there is a good reason not to have it out there I would like to hear it though...

It's a clone EXI-450 Pro to be exact.
I'm a broke college student, this is all I could afford. It has good electronics going into it though. AR7000, Hitec 65MG, Spartan Quark, Ino-lab HG-D261HB rudder, 450W motor, 40A esc w/ switching BEC. Should be a good clone at least lol

I think it may be a good idea to place it outside the frame. So you can replace it quickly if needed.

For the side left of the frame is better, because if case of crash you'll save servo wire for sure (bades turn clockwise).

I mounted mine on outside and put a 1.5mm spacer (from a G5 kit) to level up the top of the servo with the bootm which is sitting on the CF frame and not the naked bearing block.

I did use a spacer of sorts... a nut for that size screw gave the correct amount of spacing. Using the spacer for the entire thing should probably make a stronger mount in theory since there is more surface area of the servo case on the frame.
