Won't stop rotating
I'm trying to get a rebuilt Align 450 XL off the ground but it rotates in circles when it gets light on the skids. Head seems fine with no vibration. I have training gear on. When it gets light I have to give the rudder and even with 100% it still revolves. If I give it alternate rudder it just speeds up. I don't know if this is TBE but could use some help. New full Sport head, tail boom, main gear and am now using an align 420 tail servo. New fibreglass blades all around.

servo and gyro direction are wrong
when you rebuilt it you might have put the control linkage 180 degrees out on the servo and thus the gyro is working backward now

The previous 2 posters have pretty much hit the nail on the head. What you need to do is to make sure your tail rotor is spinning counter clockwise when looking at the side the tail blades are on.
the next is gyro correction direction. This is easy. Power on TX, power on Heli. grab the tail. Move it to the right, the leading edge of the tail blades should point left. If not, then reverse the gyro, NOT the gyro in the TX. Next is rudder stick direction. When setting up rudder stick, it's known as flying the nose. As when you push right on the rudder stick, the nose should go right, and the tail should go left. So, when you push right on the rudder stick, the leading edge of the tail blades should point left. If you have any problem, PM me, and I'd be happy to help. Rex |

Tail spining
Bet you got the 90 degree turn on your belt the wrong way. When you turn the main
rotor, tail blades should turn upward into the prop wash. Last edited by IRONMAN 2525; 04-30-2012 at 05:31 AM.. |

Still spining
It's been pretty wet here on Vancouver Island so I didn't get a chance to take out the 450 for a spin up until this evening. Thanks for the suggestions but I checked all and when I get light it still rotates to the right. Tail is spining counterclockwise. tail grips are on leading edge. When I move TX rudder right the tail slider goes toward the boom with tail on right as I look from behind. When I jerk tail to left, clockwise the servo linkage goes toward the rear. All seem to be as I've seen on various Nuttcaze and other build/setup videos.
I haven't tried to push it into the air and maybe I'll just have to go 90% throttle about +8 pitch to see if once in the air the slow piro stops. I tried dropping Gyrosens to 60% from 80. Any other suggestions?? |
