One-of-a-kind collection indeed. If you ever run out of space there's plenty in my house Ralph.

Please keep us updated on the 4020, I think it will be a great lightweight powerhouse.

Gerard,

I think, you mean 4520 - not 4020 ?
tests in voodoo run very well, tests in banshee will follow soon.

Yep Ralph you're correct, I made a typo.

Can you tell us what winding you have used on the 4520?

Ralph,

Always wondered if engraving the motor can causes any balancing issues.
Have you found any noticeable vibrations ?

I suppose etching the metal would help with that problem. I'm guessing .

Personalizing the motors sure does add a nice touch.

the mass of the removed material is over all about 0.1-0.2 g!
and the distribution is about symmetrical. (you need only one axis symmetry)

the only asymmetrical thing is the name.
this ia about 0.01g. may be, a fly -shit is heavier.......

never seen or heard about problems caused by such engraving.

btw:
also such very strong rebuilt speedcan runs smooth without vibrations.

Is this a lightweight motor for 700 class with the power of the 4525?

my (privat) prototype is a shortened 4525 and has the same power as the serial 4525 but not as much as my 4525 prototype motors.

for best power and weight ratio decrease the airgap and use thinner magnets, use an 8/6mm shaft in 16/8/5 bearings and turn away the heavy rips on the backiron.
and so on. and don't make the winding to fat - up to 200A peak 1,5 is absolutely enough.

so you can reduce the weight, almost without reducing the power in the normally used range.
